A VERY NICE CRUISE TO FREEPORT, DESPITE THE ELEVATORS. by steveanderson63

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

LINES WERE LONG AT THE CRUISE TERMINAL, WITH ONLY ONE  ELEVATOR TO GET TO THE 2ND FLOOR TO GET ON THE SHIP.

ONCE WE GOT ONBOARD, THE SHIP WAS VERY NICE. EXCEPT FOR SLOW SERVICE ON THE ONBOARD ELEVATORS. WE DID ENJOY ALL OF THE SHOWS, MEALS, CASINO, HOT TUBS AND POOLS. AND OUR CABIN WAS VERY NICE. DUE TO HIGH WINDS THE SHIP DID NOT GO INTO KEY WEST, AND THAT WAS THE MAIN PORT THAT I WANTED TO SEE. WE WENT TO FREEPORT AND THAT WAS A NICE STOP. NEXT WE WENT TO NASAU IN PLACE OF PRINCESS CAY. THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE EXCEPT WHEN WE WERE GETTING OFF THE GANGWAY TO THE DOCK, IT MOVED AND JEAN, WHO IS 95 AND BLIND, STARTED TO FALL. THE GANGWAY ATTENDANT, WAS ABLE TO CATCH HER AND KEPT HER FROM FALLING, THEN SHE PULLED THE GANGWAY OFF OF JEANS FOOT. THAT WAS GREAT SERVICE. WE DTD NOT GO INTO NASAU, BUT WENT BACK ONBOARD AND SPENT THE AFTERNOON IN THE HOT TUB, UNTIL JEANS' FOOT FELT BETTER. THE REST OF THE TRIP WAS NICE UNTIL WE GOT OFF THE SHIP IN HOUSTON. THE LINE TO THE ONE ELEVATOR IN THE TERMINAL WAS  BACKED UP ONTO THE SHIP. THE WAIT WAS MORE THAN AN HOUR WITH NO PLACE TO SIT DOWN. ONCE WE WERE PAST THE ELEVATOR ROADBLOCK, EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTHLY.

Winter Get-A-Way by Cruiser403

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We went on the cruise with three other couples/friends from the San Luis Valley, Colorado.  We spent the first day exploring the Princess Caribbean and getting to know our way around the ship.  I was very pleased that the first day was a sea day so we could relax and unwind from a crazy day of travel.

The excursions that we took were fun and being around the locals was a real treat.  I might pay more attention to the port local time and ship time on my next cruise as it was a little confusing when we booked one of the excursions.  No major issue as we ended up walking around the port area enjoying the sights and sounds.

We enjoyed the "Anytime Dining" as much as the food and different dining venues on board the ship.  The regular dining was excellent. The speciality restaurants ( Italian and Steak House) were exceptionally good.  Service at all the different dining areas was excellent.

Very good experience by butchbellah

Everyone on board was great--except for one person (Eddie C) working the future cruise office. Very offputting and kept us from booking a future trip with Princess. However, we did not let him ruin the trip were on.

Western Carribean Cruise by Cruiser562

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Our cruise went off without a hitch from transfer from airport to ship and back. Our group of ten had a great time enjoying each others company with our dining and connecting veranda rooms. The stops at Cozumel, Roaton, and Belize were interesting and enjoyable, and the three sea days were fun and relaxing. This was our sixth cruise on four different cruise lines. Comparatively, I thought the ship was clean, service was good, food was good but not superb, and entertainment was good but only average.

Transfer to and from ship and embarking and disembarking went very smoothly and timely.

Nice Houston cruise by ellynbtx

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was very nice.  I knew the rooms would be small and the shower very small but for 2 women it was ok.  I will have to upgrade to the mini-suite if my husband is along.  The food was good but the desserts were disappointing.  They were good, just not fantastic.  The spa was very nice and so was the fitness center.

Western Caribbean on the CaribbeanPrincess by wburbridge

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Overall it was a good trip.  They've changed a few things since we cruised last year, but mostly for the better.  We went ashore in Cozumel and Roatan to shop, but didn't take any excursions as we have taken many previous cruises to these ports.

Disappointed by debpro

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

I booked this cruise to celebrate my daughters birthday. I did my research and decided to go with Princess Cruises after reading the positive reviews. This was their first cruise and my second. We were all disappointed with this particular cruise.  The food was not that great and the excursions we booked said that there would be plenty of time for shopping afterwards, only to find out that there wasn't enough time for shopping as we had to board back on the ship as soon as we returned from our excursion. The room I felt was old and not nearly as nice as on the Royal Caribbean. The staff on the cruise were all very nice and most were very accommodating. Not that we required much attention but I am confident that they would have gone the extra mile if we needed it. I don't think this the norm for Princess because we talked to a few seasoned princess cruisers and they all stated that they were very disappointed with this particular cruise and would voice their disappointment to Princess Cruise.

Been there and done that but still had a good time. by Cruiser362

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Boarding was about the best we have encountered and disembarkation was also well handled.  Overall the ship was clean but showed some wear.  Staff was always helpful.  Entertainment great, with exception of the last night. Main dining room food was very good and wait staff was excellent. Buffet area food was good, with good variety.  Crooners had some great singers, but it was overflowing at night. Passenger service desk staff were excellent, and they were significantly better than the Royal Princess' staff on our August cruise. Balcony cabins are small and bathrooms very small and lack adequate shelves or cabinets.  We'd been to all the ports before, but were traveling with a group of friends and enjoyed the cruise.

Ship needs to be updated but the cruise was great. by kekst65093

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

The cruise turned out great but the Caribbean Princess needs to be updated as could see the years of wear and tear. Also the inside room was really small in trying to move around in and relax.

First time on a Princess Cruise by Cruiser963

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

I was really looking forward to the cruise on the Caribbean Princess. It started out fantastic. Every crew member I met was fantastic. Very nice and answered any questions I had. The check-in was a breeze. The stateroom was nice. The stateroom attendant, Camillo was the best. The first day, I went to the buffet for lunch and it was not very good. They put seasoning in things that should never have seasonings. I thought, okay, maybe it will be better. The dining room was not much better. The shrimp was not cooked enough. One night I ordered the Filet Mignon, medium well. When I order that, it usually has a little pink and it's juicy. The one I got, looked like an overdone, thin hamburger. It tasted horrible. My sister's was the same. She sent hers back and they said they cooked another one "medium". It was rare. I did not go back to the dining room. I tried the pizza, it was okay, not the best. I tried the hamburger, too many spices on it. Never ate at either place again. I ordered a couple of little boxes of cereal every morning from room service and I usually ended up eating that for lunch and supper. I would go to the buffet for breakfast and have a fried egg with a cold biscuit or just fruit. If you want to lose weight, this is the cruise to go on. Also, I have never been on a cruise that felt like a car constantly hitting bumps in the road and then start shaking. It would wake you in the middle of the night. There were no big waves or anything. We lost a generator after our second port too.

We will never sail Princess again. by sakehee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

This was my 6th cruise but 1st with Princess and we will never sail with them again. While the menu selection was good, the food quality was very poor and every item was bland and over salted. It was like eating 3 meals a day at a Luby's. I was delighted in my husband's company all week but apart from him there was nothing interesting on the ship. The activities consisted of ONLY sales pitches and movies, nothing else. There was little to nothing to do all day while onboard and this is not what I have come to expect from cruiselines. The service was generally quite rude apart from a couple exceptions and everywhere we went people were trying to get us to pay more. We received little respect and were dissatisfied with almost every staff member we came into contact with apart from a handful of kind people. In my experience, Royal Caribbean is the way to go if you want to cruise.

Some Good - Some bad by dianam5224

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The embarkation process went very smoothly and we were able to enter our cabin immediately upon boarding and our luggage arrive within a couple of hours.  We were most unhappy with our cabin but since I knew it was a sellout I didn't try to do anything about it.  I had left the cabin choice up to Princess and I will never to that again!!  We only had 1 chair, no sofa, etc.  There was not a comfortable place to read or play cards etc.  We had to find a place in the public areas to do so and they were not comfortable.  I have been in Interior rooms on Princess with more room.  I was also disappointed with activities available on board.  Most had to do with jewelry or art.  Princess used to do a lot of  lectures on interesting subjects.  The evening shows were really good.  However, they kept making announcements about not saving seats and yet people would be saving 6, 8, even 10 seats at a time.  It got so you had to go at least an hour early to get a close seat.  Ridiculous.

Very Nice Cruise with Limitations. by bobwercol

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First of all, any cruise is a good cruise. Don't really have any complaints, but in comparing this cruise with other cruises and ships we have taken (12), this is somewhat mediocre. Destinations are terrific, but the ship is very dated and service was less than what we have experienced before, especially from Princess. The food was great, but choices limited. The Buffet was small and awkward to get around. The decor was ok, but not glamorous. However, the price is right and this cruise/ship/destinations would be a good choice for a first cruise.

Caribbean Princess by hotrodmilton

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Felt like cattle going through food line and a lot of good was tasteless.  Ship smells various areas including our suite bathroom, probably just age of the ship. Cruise very lame in Honduras. Took cultural tour along with shopping that consisted of a bus ride to a dock, being taken around two ship wrecks (one seen from our ship while docked) they were less than interesting, the shopping consisted of one small store with a few tables of things, then to complete that tour we were taken by a different bus to a cultural dance. Again only word I can think of is lame. Unorganized. Lack of content. Belize airboat ride was good. Overall those on the ship didn't make us feel special at all. Best part of ship was dinner in Crown Grill. Excellent food that night.

Caribbean Princess Cruise by wanbob

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am concerned that I did not get a receipt for my on board  purchases at the time  they were made. Therefore I could not monitor my purchases and ended up spending more that I budgeted for these items. I think I should be given a receipt each time I make a purchase.

Princess cruises has consistently excellent service by Cruiser265

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was my 17th cruise with Princess. As expected, service was friendly and smooth.

Shortly before leaving on the cruise my travel companion broke her foot. This kept us on the ship (no port excursions.) Well, the on board activities were a blast! We participated in the drum circle, did napkin folding, met the steel drum player, went to trivia parties and saw many shows. The cruise directors staff are high energy and lots of fun.

When we wanted quiet there were plenty of opportunities to sit by the pool and read or play cards.

Overall, a wonderful cruise.

7 day different from longer cruises by rayj43297

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Caribbean Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Western

As an Elite Member of Princess Captains Circle we were accustomed to amenities being readily available.  This was not the case, we had to request each item and some were not made available even after request. Our bed linen was not changed the entire 7 days and floor not vacuumed. The entertainment however was excellent. The dining service and buffet were very good.

My husband and I had unforgettable experiences with our trip to Caribbean. I love snorkeling at Belize and my local guide was extremely nice. We also did the swimming with Dolphin which  was a Highline of our trip.
