Good Cruise by LeslieL1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Overall the ship was great; excellent service with great food and accomodations. Cruising is a great way to see the world and Royal Carribean does a great job. Compared to other cruise lines, however, the internet access is very slow and very costly. There could be a lot of improvement in that regard. Also, they even squeeze their captive passengers for water to drink. Drinking water is a necessity of life not a convenience or extra. At least one bottle of potble water per passenger should be provided daily. RCI wants money for even that.

A wonderful cruise by AnhN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The entertainments on the ship are very good. We had such a Desert were okay, not great. I find better deserts at Safeways. Some of the foods were like from Costco. very disappointed. But in a way, i am okay with it because i didnot over eatten and i did not gain weight after the trip. On the Princess Cruises, they allow us to order whatever we want. They could cook for us. However, it's not the same on this ship. They don't do anything special for you. the buffet is closed early, around 10 pm and i think that's too early. Fruits were the same everyday. they should have different kind of fruits and salads. The cafeteria at Virginia TEch is much better than the foods on this ship. Very disappointed.

Great service by EileenM8

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Guest services would not allow us to withdraw cash we deposited on account without restrictions. Of course, these restrictions were not discussed (written or verbal) when cash was deposited. I deposited the cash. I received a cash receipt with my name on it. Guest services actually indicated only my husband could withdraw. (Again cash receipt with MY name on it.) Some shows were good/some were lame. Food was delicious. Port shuttles overpriced. Take the time to research public transporation options and save money (particularly in Venice). Cruise line does not offer any public transportation information and actually attempted to stop us from proceeding to a public bus in one city.

Ship was mediocre by Elizabeth1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Too many formal nights resulting in the decks being consumed with photographers. Photos should not be taken while eating meals. Shopping was very limited...same old stuff. Food choices were average. Excursions expensive - no ability to know on internet about shuttle services for "on your own" travels. Pool facilities inadequate. Entertainment in theater was so-so...one great performance (Broadway was well done).

It was a smaller ship, but we liked that. Easy to get around, find what you need.

"not up to par" by CathyM7

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Sub-par. The food seemed stale many times, or undercooked. The management was rude more than once. The ship needs a makeover. On the bright side, the ports of call and the views from the ship were amazing. The housekeeping and dining staff were excellent as well.

A Great Itinerary by Jadams1016

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

If you like small ships, less than 2500 passengers, this is a good ship. The crew made this ship very good. The ship needs some TLC and more attention paid to detail. Shows presented were average. Food in the Minstrel Dining Room was average at best.

Nice, but not super family friendly by SteveS10

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship is nice, staterooms adequate, food OK. They have quality entertainment, and the cruise director staff was very good. There were lots of excess charges such as $1.95 for fresh OJ at breakfast, automatic 15% tip on every already overpriced drink brought (including the soft drink and wine packages) and extra for truly good food in the specialty restaurants. This was my first cruise, but a lot of long time cruisers were grumbling a lot as well, many saying this would be their last RC cruise. When asked, most much preferred the Carnival, Princess and Disney experience to this particular RC boat.

A Wake-Up Call to Cruising by StephenB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This was our 1st cruising experience. I think a 12 day cruise on our 1st try was a little too much. We did not have enough time at our ports. We went on three tours. One in Florence, one in Rome, and one in Naples. The Florence tour was horrible. The tour guide was not properly prepared microphone didn't have batteries and mostly talked about her families activites not to mention many of the tourist in our group were extremly old and probably should not have been on the tour in the 1st place. Our tour guide in Rome was excellent we each had individual radio ear receivers and she had a PhD in arciology. Our tour in Naples was ok we had radio ear receivers but again there were many elderly couples on the tour who could barley walk which slowed the process down. Of course this caused the tour to be cut short without seeing everything because there is limited time. Becareful of cruising days. We had two days in a row after our last port to cruise back to our starting port. It was two days two long......just wanted to get home by then.....

" a wonderful cruise!" by JoanC3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The ship was just the right size. It was not so big that you felt lost in the shuffle and so small that you felt threatened by the "heavy seas" that occur on the Mediterrean Sea.

Good cruies by Jack2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Brilliance of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Ok for a smaller ship. The smoking that was allowed on the ship was very upsetting. The casion was unbearable. The woman in the next room was a smoker. She coughed so loud and often it woke us up, and I am a sound sleeper. It took several times of complaining to get another room on the 6th or so day.
