Relaxing by Cruiser779

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Cruising on the Anthem of the Seas is what you make of your vacation.  If your expectation is to relax and enjoy whatever comes your way, or if you are looking for fun and activities this ship is for you.  And for the complainers, there is no doubt you will find something that will not meet your expectations.  My husband and I had a marvelous time.  Our cabin with a balcony was excellent.  We were able to escape when quiet is all we desired.  Our maid service was superb.  The dining experience with our team of servers where ever so accommodating with a pleasant attitude.  However, the menu could use a little more variety.  After 12 days the menu was beginning to get a little mundane.  The entertainment was entertaining with the exception of "The Gift".  It was a little challenging trying to interrupt the fantasy, however the dancing was good.  All in all I believe everyone tried their very best to make our time on the ship enjoyable.  I would give my personal experience a rating of 9+.

Western Caribbean Cruise on Anthem by AlfromNJ

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Summary: Great cruise - Great ship - Great itinerary. ALL of the staff were so friendly and helpful. With 4,000 passengers we never felt crowded due to so many sports activities, eating venues, an enormous theater, a two story Music Hall, bars, shops, and water venues. Suggestion: make your reservations for the shows, for dining, and for activities online Before you board the ship. Deck 14, at the very front of the ship, has a glass enclosed Solarium containing many hot tubs and sitting-in pools and a light lunch cafeteria. This is followed by another Solarium that has a swimming pool and a few more hot tubs. following that is the outdoor swimming pool. This area also has a few hot tubs, a small Wave pool, and a river pool. The latter two is for children of all ages. There are many, many rows of chaises in and around everything. One flight up on Deck 15 is a walking/running track going around most of the deck with more rows and rows of chaises.

Wonderful Birthday on the Anthem of the Seas by cok

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had good weather and a smooth sailing for the entire cruise. Every day we participated in activities whether they were onboard or at shore excursions. I swam laps in the adults only  indoor pool. There were many venues for casual and formal dining, all complimentary.

Before the cruise I made online reservations for dinners, entertainment, excursions, Ripcord, and North Star and I also downloaded the Royal iQ app. This free app can be used with the ship's wifi once you're onboard. I used it to view my daily schedule, make changes to schedules or reservations, view charges on your account, etc. No charge for using these features.

I would like to commend the Captain, crew, all staff members and performers for their professionalism and teamwork. Thank you for making this  cruise  safe, entertaining and virus free.   Big Smile

good and bad by fbattali

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I though the cruise itself was great but there were too many people on the ship causing long line weather on the ship or on shore . The food in the windjammer was good but the food is left sitting in too much grease one had to be careful what one took. the shows were out of this world great.

Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Some of the employees were rude, the breakfast was a disaster had to wait quit a while for bacon and pork sausage, eggs and bacon was nasty, only one person per omelette station, no salt and pepper shakers on the table. At dinner the dinner rolls were cold and hard a s a brick every night, the 24 hr snack was lousy little pieces of dry cake, dry small sandwiches and little pieces

of pizza.  The activities you couldn't book online but got there early and North Star and Rip Fly sold out, how so? Next, bumper car line up problem, we were there at 2:00 pm  and at 3:30 pm people were jumping in front us us and an argument ensued and no one tried to resolve the problem.  Next the couch and bed in the room was hard and difficult to get a comfortable night sleep

Nice ship, but too big by lpacheco

Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Beautiful ship, attentive crew.  Loved the spa and spa crew.  Was disappointed with the shopping, however.  Too many high end stores, and no standard souvenier or clothing shops.  Not enough crew members on board either.

My experince in the antthem of the sea by sortiz268

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

Good Morning

I want to share my experience.  My Husband and I are always cruise.  We have cruise on Carnival, Princess, Norigeen and now at the Royal.  We visit many ships in the past.  but my experience with the Royal of the anthem was a bit challenge.  We never meet the person who clean our room.  The shows were cancel every day.  The hospitality could be a lot better.  When we fist got into the ship my husband bought a beer soon after we left he bought the $59.a day drink pass. We went to the hospitality desk to request a credit for the previous drink we bought earlier.  The young lady that took care of us told us that they could not credit us, because we bought the drink 30 minutes earlier. The restaurant were over booked. the show where over booked and when you did find a show to see then it was cancel.  I had a very difference experience than what I other ships. it seems that they were understaff.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Cruise to Nowhere

WE HAD A RELAXING AND FUN CRUISE.  WE LOVED THE MODERN LOOK OF THE SHIP AND THE BEAUTIFUL BALCONY STATEROOM. WE WERE VERY IMPRESSED BY THE CLEANLINESS, OUR ROOM WAS IMMACULATE!  THE DINING ROOMS AND FOOD WERE DELICIOUS.  WE LOVED RELAXING IN THE SOLARIUM AND THE POOL BAR HAD GREAT DRINKS.  THE STAFF EVERYWHERE WERE ALWAYS FRIENDLY.  ONLY DOWN SIDE WAS THE ROUGH WATER WHICH MADE THE SHIP REALLY ROCK ALOT.

worst cruise we've ever been on by hboyd07

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

my husband and i have been cruising since april 1985,we have sailed on different cruise ships to different distinations but the anthem of the seas was very disappointing, the entertainment or like of was horrible,  we disliked the dinning room arrangement which had us change resturants nightly, there were no traditional formal nights, with changing resturants nightly you did'nt get to make cruise friends, also because leaving from up north the people seemed very unfriendly, we always fly to florida to cruise. we felt that it was not enough food serviers therefore waiters did a lot of mulit-tasking and offen did was their hand or use gloves, my husband and became ill as well as most of the ship.our room attendant and dinningroom waiter were excellent. we were very disatisfied with the anthem of seas

Shortened by 2 days due to weather but Fabulous!! by mred38

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The deluxe stateroom was very spacious, the food selections in many restaurants was great, the service was on spot, the shows were first class, the ship was beautiful and spacious, even with 4000+ guests it did not seem ver crowded, and reservations for shows was a great idea, the new facilities at Port Liberty for the Anthem were very upscale, Even though weather caused the captain to cut the trip short two ports we had a great time and received a great financial accommodation for the early return to port. We were very satisfied!

Beautiful ship by johnburch9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were impressed with the ship... really beautiful.  Technical innovation is probably why I wanted to try it. l loved the I-Fly and North Star.  The crew was wonderful. We purchased our cruise without full understanding of the "Dynamic Dining" concept and were too late to get "Dynamic Dining Classic" (which more closely resembles the conventional 6:00/8:00 p.m. seating with same table and staff).  We had to choose and reserve each restaurant and dinner time.  For us that lost much of the charm of sailing...few decisions to make; getting to know table mates and the same wait staff for each meal.  Knowing that you had a show to attend each night was also something lost for this cruise concept,  All but a couple of shows had to be reserved ahead of time or you could not attend. So... good ship; good crew; but please do not extend the "dynamic" concept to other ships.

I must add that this cruise cut the 12 day trip short by 2 days because of forecast weather.

Anthem review by therosenbergs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Went on quantum last year. Want d to fall in love with this ship. The convenience of leaving out of Bayonne was one of the reasons we selected this ship.

We lost 2 days because of an impending storm. That was ok. I did find the crew to not be very pleasant. I truly think they went thru so much and we're just tired...but I do expect to have people I. The hospitality industry enjoyable...not miserable.

We did make the most out of our trip and want to give Royal Caribbean another try with our 50% off cruise fare.

Anthem of the Seas by riv65

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The Anthem is a beautiful ship with nice cabins but the ship is too large with too many guests. Service on the ship was very good but the food was mediocre  and they nickel and dime you for everything. Drinks were expensive so if you like a few martinies a day you would probably be better off bying one of their expensive beverage plans around $118 per coulple. The cruise went well except they returned two days early because of expected storms, so they say, but there was also Neuroviruse on board which the crew did their best to control. Overall it was good to get away from the cold but cruising on a large ship like this is not what we would do again.

Beautiful ship! by Ozarklady

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Our experience on Anthem was terrific up until the cruiseline cut the trip short by two days due to anticipated bad weather. We missed Barbados and St. Kitts. The embarkation and disembarkation process was the fastest we ever experienced anywhere. Our balcony room on the 9th floor was beautiful and always clean and made up twice a day. We did not like rotating through four dining rooms (we had classic dining) and missed having one large dining room, although our waiters traveled with us. Every dining room has a different theme and beautiful decorations, especially Silk. Chops and Jamie's were delicious and a nice break from the regular dining. We thought the onboard activities were the usual silly ones found on cruise ships. The entertainment everywhere was awesome and both the musicians and performers were so talented!! Don't miss Spectra and The Gift. Read your Compass newsletter daily though to know where the entertainment is because some people missed performances because that's the only way to find out where and when. Don't miss Will Joy in the Schooner Bar--he is a pianist that plays throughout the trip. So talented! We took the All Access tour of the ship and learned so much about the Anthem. Our favorite shore excursion was in St. Maarten racing on the America's Cup yachts--what an adventure! All in all, we loved the cruise, the staff and the ship!

Did did not meet my expectations by kimro1rn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

The customer service was good. Any issues were satisfactorily addressed. The onboard activities were pretty boring and fairly repetitive. There was a very poor selection of music and not much variation of music genres. The main attractions always required you to sign up at least thirty minutes in advance and then an additional wait of at least another 30 minutes.. The North Star was often closed due to weather and there was no preference given to those who booked in advance. The boat feels small compared to The Allure. Also, there wasn't anything for adults to watch on tv as most channels were for children or related to ship information. I was less than impressed.

Mr. Jeffrey D. Boone by jeffreyboone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Anthem of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

There was broken glass on the top deck of the ship during the entire cruise., Glass panels in the roof of the pool area's were broken and or missing. The North star flow rider and the I fly were all broke in the beginning of the trip. There weren't enough waiter on deck you had to go to the bar yourself if you wanted something to drink. There were missing panels and wires hanging from the celling of the top deck , broken hand rails on the top deck spots of dried blood on the floor. Kids sitting on the stairs making it hard to walk up or down stairs. Most of the trip a lot of the elevators were out of service.
