Review summary

Some of the employees were rude, the breakfast was a disaster had to wait quit a while for bacon and pork sausage, eggs and bacon was nasty, only one person per omelette station, no salt and pepper shakers on the table. At dinner the dinner rolls were cold and hard a s a brick every night, the 24 hr snack was lousy little pieces of dry cake, dry small sandwiches and little pieces

of pizza.  The activities you couldn't book online but got there early and North Star and Rip Fly sold out, how so? Next, bumper car line up problem, we were there at 2:00 pm  and at 3:30 pm people were jumping in front us us and an argument ensued and no one tried to resolve the problem.  Next the couch and bed in the room was hard and difficult to get a comfortable night sleep

Opinions are given so people can have ideal what's in store for them they come to shipmate for reviews and that's what this thread is!

I am looking forward to trivia games at Schooner and that sounds fun too! With so much time at sea it will give me time to enjoy the ship.

Cruisekmc    8 years ago

Going back to the comment about the rudeness of the staff...I felt the staff was amazing on our 2/21 cruise. I even did a game out of the Schooners bar where we had a list of countries. We had to find crew members from each country and have them sign the list. Whoever got the most signatures was the winner. The staff was fun and tried to help us in any way they could! We didn't win though.

We had a lovely time on the Anthem. The only rudeness i saw was from entitled passangers towards the crew. We will cruise on the Anthem any time.

Just got off this ship and I did not see any of the concerns you mentioned ( other than hard couch) We did a 12 day cruise. Part of our cruise they did not have salt and pepper on the tables due to high sanitary conditions. We got them back midway through the cruise.

Thank-you Cruisekmc, love reading the positives.

I've been on 18 cruises, each cruise line is different as well as the ship. It's always a different experience. You need to always make the best of it and enjoy. All of the buffet restaurants on ships are a little hectic, but so what? We were on the Anthem when it arrived home two days early and had the Norovirus. It was a wonderful ship and a great cruise!

dmorton    8 years ago

Gee, I'm onboard now, and haven't had a reason to complain about anything. I looked at your profile rsmrjoh, and see that you only did the 3 day prior to this cruise. What did you really expect to happen in 3 days? Especially after the ships crew just spent 2 days helping to scrub down the entire ship to eradicate the NoroVirus.

Southern Caribbean 12 Night cruise coming up at end of November....can't wait! 12 Nights I think is a long time, but what an itinerary....really looking forward to stepping foot on this ship....happy to see some of these better reviews as of late....thanks...

We are on the the anthem right now and so far it is just amazing! The staff goes above and beyond every single day! And the food is outstanding!

maryrunyon    8 years ago

I figure we would figure it out. Lol.

If classic is the same as since cruising began, there was 2 sittings for the evening meal 6 and 8:15 and you sat the same table with the same table mates the whole cruise. If Dynamic is like Disney Cruises, then they tell you which dining room to go to and your wait staff are there as well!! Maybe??!! Lol

If you Google Dynamic Dining you will get Rccl's link to Dynamic dining FAQ's

Sail in June. Yeah.

maryrunyon    8 years ago

I booked us at the Grande twice. Silk once. Chic once. American Icon. But American Icon serves lunch so we will hit that at lunch

madeadee    8 years ago

Thank-you, are you on ship now?

maryrunyon    8 years ago

I THINK the difference but don't hold me to it because it seems confusing but.... On dynamic you travel to the different restaurants as you want at the times you want. But on classic you keep same table # and wait staff as you move through the restaurants. I am not clear if you have assigned times on classic.

tfleming675    8 years ago

Hmm, on the ship now. Only thing I agree with here is Windjammer is a little hectic. Lot's of places on the ship for food. I thought the buns where excellent at dinner. I have tried several. We have not had any issues with the lines for the onboard activities. The Royal IQ app is brilliant. We booked a reservation for one of the restaurants standing in line for it.

madeadee    8 years ago

Once again please tell me the difference between dynamic and classic dining. We have dynamic.

Just curious, what was your complaint, especially when it got you $ 300.00?

kittycaper    8 years ago

I complained on the Liberty of the sea and we got 300$ for our trouble. There was two other couples with us and they got it too.

simone266    8 years ago

The problem with the complaining for me is the fact that it takes or attempts to take the joy and excitement out of those who have up coming cruises. It's ok that some cruisers have a miserable time I get it. It just feels like they do all this complaining in hopes that it will spoil someone else experience. I saw a post from someone else that started "not trying to ruin someone else's experience"

gaylenesmith969    8 years ago

As well, you can usually tell the people who are first time cruisers, they have no expectations and are almost 100% impressed. It's the ones who have been before that think that it is not as good as another ship, another line, another year! Things have changed, but try being as easy for 1000 people to do things the same as 4000.... Not possible!!

gaylenesmith969    8 years ago

I am not making excuses for nor qualifying any comment, but to say that people just come on this site to complain seems to becoming a habit and not a good one. I believe that if there is truly an issue, by all means this is where to share. BUT, your vacation and for that matter anything in life is what you make it. If you go on a holiday thinking that it better be as good as home you better stay.

everyone has a right to their own opinion. this person was sharing his bad experience. what gives you the right to be a cyber bully and bash his review? grow up!

spacecowboy    8 years ago

Probably walked around looking for something to complain about. I bet they had them nasty smokers and chair hogs everywhere too

maryrunyon    8 years ago

I also wonder why people need to eat 24 hours straight.

spacecowboy    8 years ago

Wow!! You were pretty miserable weren't you? Lousy piece of dry cake? Little piece of Pizza?maybe you should try a land vacation next time.

renierbonthuizen    8 years ago

I am on the same cruise as you and like beauty complaints are in the eye of the beholder. We have not had one bad experience so far.We time manage our meals and miss the rush, every encounter with the staff must be taken in stride, you work with 4000 people and see how you feel. If the bumper cars and North Star is what makes a cruise then that will be sad as everything else is working and the guys are trying their best to make the cruise as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

maryrunyon    8 years ago

There are several places for breakfast. Buffets are not for everyone. Why do it three times?
