Review summary
We really enjoyed our cruise but we do have a few gripes . On the day we visited tracy arm glacier someone in tn their wisdom decided to varnish the hand rails on the aft deck, consequently you could not lean on the rails whilst viewing the scenery as it was still wet. We also missed out on the full tour in Seattle due to the bus breaking down but that was just the luck of the draw. Also got a bit fed up of seeing diamonds international and the like in nearly every port. We were not impressed at shows onboard especially if you compare with the likes of celebrity.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Easy and straightforward no holdups
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The menu was somewhat boring but the food in the main dining room was well cooked. The waiter service was good .we had a meal in the pinnacle grill which was really nice and the difference stood out from the main restaurant. Had a bit of a problem with the dive in burger bar on a couple of occasions as our burgers weren't cooked properly and were raw in the middle.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Other than the lectures and the usual trivia quizzes nothing much going on
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Ok but nothing great , especially if you compare it to the likes of celebrity.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The waiters in the main dining room were very friendly as was our room steward. The people serving in the lido need lessons in presentation and plaiting up food instead of in many cases just sloping and piling food onto a plait.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Although now an older ship she is kept in good order and was comfortable.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was clean and functional, our steward was very pleasant and friendly. We had a folded towel animal on the bed every day.
Ship tip
Get up early for breakfast as the lido restaurant soon gets crowded and it's hard to find a table.
It was the last day of our holiday and we did the Seattle tour with airport drop off as we had a later flight. After about ten minutes from the port ,the coach broke down. After quite some time another coach arrived to pick us up but all the luggage had to be left on the first coach and we were told our original coach will be fixed and would pick us up after we visited the space needle at a given time , of course it didn't turn up and over half an hour after the stated time a different coach picked us up, minus our luggage and dumped everyone at a market. At last our original bus turned up once again late with luggage and took everyone to the airport we missed most of the tour due to this but we were glad to be reunited with our luggage and at the airport in time for our flight.
Took the free shuttle from the docking area to the few shops on the spit had a walk round looking in the shops then got the shuttle back , not that much to see.
Visited the Alaska wildlife conservation centre where we saw bears, moose , wolves and many other animals . We then went on to the Portage glacier for a boat tour.had a fantastic day.
