Everyone raves about these RC cruises so we decided to spend the extra money and give it a try...never again!!! I will stick to Carnival any day. I have done 10 cruises on Carnival and it is certainly more fun and friendly!!!  Food is better and they don't try to upsell you at every turn.  Ice cream machine was broken down quite a bit and served by an attendant from 12-6 only.  Very small!  You would think the complimentary beverages and ice were gold...they also served this...it gets shut down and located in an inconvenient location from the pool.  There are not shows to accommodate each dinner sitting so we were able to enjoy 1.  The shows are set in an auditorium setting...Carnival's Vegas style seating much more comfortable.  Food in the buffet the same and very Asian. Just all in all disappointing.

Cruise review by paulmgoldstein

I liked the cruise and the crew was very attentive. I thought that having the giant screen on all day playing the same silly "gotcha" bits was very annoying. I go away to get away from the phone and TV and I find it very annoying and extremely presumptuous of the cruise company to think that we need to be entertained by a TV on the pool deck. I will never sail on a boat that has the screen on all day again.

lack of entertainment by traveler413

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The entertainment was not up to the standards I have come to expect from Royal Caribbean.  They did not have shows each night at times that were available for both dinner times.  If you eat late, you won't see the shows!  We were also disappointed with the food on this cruise.  The dining room food was adequate, not memorable.  The ice cream machine at the pool had really long lines, and didn't work properly.  On past cruises, you could eat ice cream anytime you wanted, this cruise had it only at certain times.  My daughter was unhappy about this.  The pool was overcrowded.  They stated that they would remove items if not touched in 30 minutes.  This never happened.  If you want a seat near the pool, you better get up about 6am.  People blocked chairs and never sat in them.  I know they have to allow for a smoking section, but does it really need to take up the entire side of the pool area.  The smell was horrible.  You could even smell it when you were in the adults only area.  I would not take this cruise again.

Sailing with Special Friends by skiboop

As per usual, Royal Caribbean is wonderful.!!!! The food was good in the dining room for the nights that we ate there and Giovani's was excellent.  The staff was great.  Of course we had our favorites.  Denzel in the lobby bar could be a comedian.  Love the fact that Diamond members have the access to the dining room for breakfast.

A relaxing vacation by JuliRussell

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

This was the 7th cruise my husband and I have been on, the 4th on the Adventure of the Seas! Obviously we love cruising and for a nice relaxing time, the Caribbean is the place to go. We highly recommend a balcony room so that you can maximize your private time. The staff on ships work very hard and you would never know because each one fo them practice customer service excellence! That is one of the best things and reasons we continue to cruise. Our bartenders and servers at the champagne bar and our main waitress were bar none the most fabulous! The ship has a great deal to offer with sports opportunities, adult and 'party' pools (a separate childrens one too) plethora of hot tubs, lots of fun games and things to do inside as well. The views on the ship are breathtaking and you can see the sunrise and set in the same spot:) The shows are excellent and every seat has a perfect view. Another interesting point is that the staff come from all parts of the world...amazing to know that we CAN all get along:) We have already booked our next cruise on the Oasis of hte Seas, one of the largest in the world!

Adventure of the Seas by tdschar

Our waiters Ugar and Marvin they were fantastic. I was a little disappointed over all with Royal. The shows were absolutely fantastic that we attended I don't think the times were thoughtout well on the shows because they coincided with other things.we personally were not impressed with the food choices. this may be food preference but it look like much the food went to waste. When we get off at Islands and come back for dinner I enjoyed just coming casually but they wanted everybody dressed up every night.I would've preferred Bermuda shorts or even capris.

Good Cruise experience but is not the WOW experience that Royal Caribbean announce by carlitos67

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

There were few things that did not WOW me, like beach towels and room towels have bad appearance (very used), shower head broken so water was coming out everywhere, TV screen was crack, stateroom needs refurbish. The on the casino has deceiving advertising, slot machine tournament offers a cruise for two in the Allure of the sea but in reality when you reach to the final round if they did not have enough participants then they give out a cash prize, but this is not advise upfront, which make you participate and do re buys thinking that you have a chance for a cruise. Food in the Café was OK, not so many options and variety of food. Lastly, some great activities overlap each other so you have to pick your best one, a bit of inconvenient because I wanted to participate on both activities.

Things that I like, shows were Excellent as well as the food in the Main Dining. The itinerary also is great, many islands to visit with different things to see.

A Must Do Cruise for the best of the Southern Caribbean Islands by dmoysan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

If you want to experience the Southern Islands and what they have to offer, then this is the cruise for you!  We left San Juan, Puerto Rico and visited St. Thomas, St Kitts, Aruba and Curacao.  St. Thomas is known for being a great place to shop with all of it's Fine Jewelry stores.  St. Kitts has a beautiful rainforest.  Aruba has it all!  It has beautiful scenery, fine shopping, great beaches and is only 20 miles from the coast of Venezuela.  Curacao has rich oil refineries, beautiful beaches, fine shopping and great tasting Rum.  This is a great trip to experience!

RCI cruise by dstrase

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Nice ship. Very stable in rough seas. The food was good and the servers were some of the best we have ever had. Cabin (8652) was nicely decorated and plenty of room. We were on the port side towards the rear of the ship. Our attendant was superb. Even with 3,000 people on board, it did not seem like there were a lot of people on board. Nice port of calls with only two days of sea travel. The rest of the days were in port with travel at night. Loved Aruba and Curacao.

Loved the islands, but not the ship by Mdmazzei123

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The islands were beautiful and I enjoyed the cruise despite several issues. I cruised on this ship two years ago and in comparing that experience with this one, it seemed that this time the ship was under-staffed, the entertainment was weak, and there were odor issues. Our room had an offensive odor, which was handled by a carpet cleaning on day two, and this left a "carpet fresh" odor over the original odor. We were told the ship was full and couldn't move to another cabin. Other than removing some minor expenses from our bill, and offering to move us on day 5 (which we declined at that point), the customer service was unacceptable. Also, while watching a comedienne in the theater, we had to leave due to a strong sewer odor. It appears to me that the focus for Royal Caribbean must be on their newer and bigger ships. However, the dining on this ship was excellent. Another piece of advice...do not fly out of San Juan on the same day your cruise ends. The airport was complete chaos and after standing in line several hours we were told that we were bumped off of our flight. The airport was much calmer and less crowded the following day. Again, the islands were fabulous, especially Antigua and Barbados. So I highly recommend the islands, but not on this ship.

Feb 2015 Southern Caribbean by pattyhillroose

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Having Been a long time Princess cruiser I was nervous about moving to Royal Caribbean.CON- . We had a balcony that seamed small and confining even for the highest level balcony room (non-suite) PRO's-Just about everything else.I was very impressed walking on the ship. The interior was very nice and surprisingly updated. the  pramanade was a fun place to hang out in the evening. A much better place than Princess has to offer.the ship was very clean. The crew was excellent. Our waitress Natasha was outstanding. dining room food was better than what I have experienced on Princess. The windjammer is Ok, very nice layout and easy to get around. the food is run of the mill buffet food with scrambled eggs and omlets leaving you wishing you hadn't..  The ports were good with plenty of time in port. Over all.(9+)

AWesome cruise dissappointing ship. by papacruiser1000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

The islands visited were wonderful, full of pleasant and helpful people with beautiful things to see and fun things to do. Because of that this cruise was very good. My disappointments were with the ship and ship board activities. Disappointments: #1 the food in the buffet (Windjammer)- the breakfast buffet was bad. The eggs reminded me of the eggs we got at boy scout camp, army surplus quality; the biscuits and gravy were the worst I have ever had; like hockey pucks with watery soup with bits of yesterdays left over sausage links for gravy. The Windjammer closes early, and when it is closed the only food available is down on the promenade, so if you are up on deck in the evening you have to go to the belly of the ship to find something to eat, or go to Johnny's where you have to pay for the food. Oh and if you are a fan of the midnight buffet forget it. Other ships have had food up on deck seemingly 24 hrs/day; pizza, burgers, hot dogs, etc, not this ship. #2 Music- for some reason they put their music in the middle of crowded, noisy, busy venues (such as the middle of the promenade) where it is impossible to enjoy, and in many cases there is no where to even sit to listen. #3 Dancing- if you like to dance on a cruise, find a different ship. Only once during the week were we able to find dance music in a venue that had a dance floor or any room to dance.

Don't get me wrong it was a very good cruise, but next time I will do it on a different ship.

Great winter get away by marthmasonry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

In all we had a really good time on this cruise. The only complaints we had were with the cruise ship itself as it took us 2 days and a fellow cruiser to get us moved to the earlier seating for dinner. We were also a little upset with the selection of shore excursions. We were seeing really cool raft excursions on the big screen by the pool and then there were not offered at any of the ports.  We had a great stateroom attendant who went out of his way to quickly get the extra hangers and blankets when I requested them. Also once we finally did get moved to the earlier dinner we had a fantastic wait staff. The one thing that we wished were different was all the shows and activities were so late at night we would always be asleep before they started. It would be nice if they had some activities and shows earlier in the evening.  As for the islands them selves we enjoyed every one. In particular we loved Aruba and plan to go back. The weather was absolutely wonderful for this time of year as we enjoyed 80 to 90 degree days with a nice breeze. The beaches were all great with restaurants and bathrooms available. This was a great winter break!!

Great cruise, great ship by rmadams250

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

The only complaint I could.think of was the ship needed some cosmetic touches like new paint amd replace the carpet in some areas. Other than that the staff was very friendly, one of the best waiter staff I've had on any cruise.

Southern Caribbean Cruise by Suzemac

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We were in six ports in seven days, being able to experience the culture and highlights of each port for a full day in each. We had the flexibility to schedule as many activities as we wished or to just relax in a deck chair with a good book in the warm sun and Caribbean breezes. The food was excellent with a wide variety of choices and the service from our room attendant, Kevin, to our waiters and guest services personnel was always friendly, efficient and helpful. We highly recommend this cruise. We also recommend that you arrange your arrival in San Juan for the day before the cruise, especially if you are coming from the north where weather conditions caused our flights to be cancelled not only on the arrival weekend but the departure weekend as well. Allowing that extra time saved our trip and gave us extra time in San Juan, where we really enjoyed Old San Juan. Check out "Flavors" for a food tour of six restaurants in Old San Juan (one course in each restaurant that is their specialty) that was one of the highlights of our trip.

Service great, entertainment needs to be addressed by travellinggran

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Being my first time on RC I expected a similar experience to Princess Cruise lines, my regular choice of cruise lines.

The entertainment was very limited, they had the ice show the first day which was amazing, great job.  The daily activities were very limited, the day at sea they had a napkin display, other than that there really were not any activities. I was expecting the same as princess and would have a choice of 2-3 things an hour to choose from including entertainment.  I spoke to several people on this cruise whom also agreed that there was not much to do and was very limited.  There were no pool games, the movie on the big screen evenings consisted of kids movies, cartoon type. The indoor theatre played the same 2 movies the entire week.

If you are a drinker there are a few bars on the main floor, example of the cost of a cocktail drink was averaging $9.00 each and since I do not drink alcohol I got the non alcohol package which cost me over $150.  Certainly not worth the price.

I booked a land tour in St. Croix for $138. for 2 which was worth maybe $40-$45 for 2 people.  Very boring, not a great amount of scenery and they actually stopped in a town on the island for over an hour which was part of our 3 1/2 tour.

The positives were a great room steward who did an amazing job in ensuring we would get anything requested within minutes, our room was kept very clean and came back to our room almost every evening to animals made out of towels which was a nice touch and reminded me of our all inclusive vacations.

Our dining experience was terrific, met some great people and the service was top notch.  Again however the food portions were very small, the steak was the size of a woman's fist, as was the vegetables etc.  The lobster was very small and tasteless, but the staff had no problem with getting us extras.  We started ordering 2 appetizers to help fill our bellies.

Was not at all impressed with Adventure of the Seas and would not rush to make another reservation to sail on this ship.  I honestly think I will go back to Princess if I choose to sail again.

Great ports by Bobcatdad

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Adventure of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

my wife and I chose this particular cruise because of the itinerary. We have cruised many times, but the itinerary is the most important thing to us. The Adventure of the Seas is a nice ship with a lot of features. Food was good but not great on this cruise. Entertain it was good but not great also.service is always outstanding on a Royal Caribbean cruise however. You are almost guaranteed wonderful weather when you cruise in the southern Caribbean. We would recommend this cruise.
