Adventure of the Seas

7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip)

Sail date: December 12, 2015

Ship: Adventure of the Seas

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Review summary

This ship looks old with chipped paint, rusted spots, stains and rips in carpets.  The ports of call made this vacation a success as we planned our own excursions.  The food was average at best.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food was average. Very little variety. Sushi was a joke, only cucumber with rice. Have to pay for Johnny Rockets. Ran out of food in Wind Jammers and took a long time for them to replenish. Carnival has much better food.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Not much variety.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
They need more show times. Comedians were only shown at 10:15pm. Not much to do on Sea Day.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
No comment. We didn't travel with kids.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
It was okay. Staff didn't smile that much but they were friendly.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Needs to be refurbished badly.

Ship tip

Find the nearest bathroom outside of your stateroom if you share. To avoid frustration at the elevators, ride them up and then ride them back down so you aren't faced with full elevators when they come to your floor. Ask for ketchup packages before you get your food because they always run out.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Never book through the ship because the price is double. Always walk past the tourist area and find the local taxi/tour guides for better tours and prices. We get our best tours that way. St. Thomas is great for snorkeling.

Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Beach day here as there is not much else to do on this island.

St. John's, Antigua

Island tour is best here.

Castries, St. Lucia

Boat tour around the island is amazing.

St. George's, Grenada

Spice plantation and factory tour is wonderful here. Come home with lots of fresh spices. Grab a cheap banana nut smoothie before getting back on the ship. Delish!!
