Progreso (Merida), Mexico Port Reviews

Merida is beautiful but don't go on the scenic photo tour and foodie experience excursion, wasn't impressed with the foodie part. Very little to try and what we tried I could get in Texas.

Buddy's on the beach was a great restaurant. Got to sit on the beach, drink $2 Coronas; ate guacamole and fish tacos. Too many pandering vendors trying to sell anything from bootleg DVDs to Spiderman kites to Cuban cigars.

this is where we went to the private beach. they provide transportation to and from. This excursion is roughly $35 when you pay off the ship. they will have a stand when you get off the ship for excursions.

Didn't really enjoy Progreso very much - out beach excursion left a lot to be desired. Too far to travel for the value of the trip.

I loved the culture here, and because it was a new port, it hadn't become over run with the same touristy shops and stuff.

They are in process of building this area up for tourists. Unless you take a bus and go to town there isn't much to do at the dock area. The area was clean but store employees standing outside their stores begging you to come in and look.

I stayed on the ship....we were next to a military base it looked like and pretty depressing scenery. My daughters did the Dune Buggy and Ruins.... They said they went thru some really run-down areas but overall it was ok.
