Review summary

this was both my husband and i's first time on a cruise. Overall we had a great time but I don't think this has made us "cruise people". I got seasick the first couple days and then after we got off the ship at home. I heard that you barely feel the waves when on the boat, but that wasn't true even after taking Dramamine. I throughly enjoyed the trivia and shows on the boat and the unlimited food options which my husband took advantage of. ;) my favorite part was Cozumel when we went snorkeling. My tip would be don't book through the ship, we got a private tour for half the price!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The food in the main dining room was a disappointment. The other dining options on the ship were more enjoyable.

Ship Quality

On the 5th floor of the ship is horrible stained smoke smell. I couldn't stop coughing day one.

Cabin / Stateroom

I loved that I booked a balcony room, it was amazing getting to just read on the balcony while the ocean is right below you. It was a nice quiet spot to retreat and relax. The room a/c did not go as low as hoped though. Some nights had to sleep on top of covers.

Ports of call

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

Merida is beautiful but don't go on the scenic photo tour and foodie experience excursion, wasn't impressed with the foodie part. Very little to try and what we tried I could get in Texas.

I use seabands. you can find them with the motion sickness stuff and they look like 80s sweat bands, I put them on as soon as I feel ill and within minutes I'm better

Yes. About $1.50 for 8-10 at Walmart. I may have the spelling wrong.

Is meclizine over the counter?

jbbinder    7 years ago

I'm very prone to motion sickness. We start taking 5-10mg meclizine twice a day, 2 days before we sail. We continue taking it twice a day throughout the cruise, and for 2 days after. Never had a problem.
