A glutton for punishment, I booked two excursions in PEI. In the AM we saw the family house used as the inspiration of Green Gables in the Anne books. The house was well-kept, had a large visitor area, a coffee shop, and a souvenir shop. Enjoyed this excursion. In the afternoon, we booked the Watchtowers and Wine. We visited two lighthouses and were able to climb to the top. Both were clean and one was an easy climb for older knees. After we toured the Rossignol winery. The PEI wine industry is fairly new and as far as I know, the wineries are small family operations. Rossignol has been awarded medals for their fruit wines. Although they do produce traditional wines as well. Just don't expect a sit-down service wine flight as you would find in Napa or Sonoma. Picture 40 people queuing for a small taste of 2-3 pours of fruit wines. The winery was very generous to pour any of their available wines, again small portions about 1 oz.

Barring the initial cluster getting off the ship, I enjoyed this port call. I did 2 tours here (Anne of Green Gables and walking) and enjoyed both. Later, I explored a little of Charlottetown on my own.

It was great to get to see where the writing of Anne of Green Gables was inspired.

Panoramic Island Drive booked by RC. Very nice drive if you've never been there. The Confederation Bridge is an engineering marvel and this is the home of Ann of Green Gables (My wife is a retired librarian - what can I say?)

Nice town to walk around. Make sure you visit the Anne of Green Gables house & hiking trails as well as the seashore cliffs.

We took an excursion which took us sightseeing in Charlottetown and then to a fishing village, Cavendish Beach, and Green Gables Heritage Place. All very interesting and enjoyable.

We did a town tour. The town is nice and clean, but It felt like they were trying to make more out of it then it was. If we had missed this port I would not have noticed.
