Decent cruise, nothing special. Some of the ports could have been missed and I wouldn’t have noticed. I think there’s some other towns that have more to offer, maybe NCL should look into that.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The cattle were loaded in Quebec, fairly efficient. The NCL personal were quick, the terminal personnel were OK.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Nothing special here, it was a little better than eating at Denny’s
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The fitness center has lots of new/newer equipment and several of each type. Very nice
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We went to most of the shows. The ships performers worked hard as the shows were longer than most and well done
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The service was just OK. Nobody really went out of their way. It doesn’t match the service on other cruise lines I’ve been on (Recently -Viking, Princess, A few years ago-Royal Caribbean). I don’t know if it’s the free style dining or the lumping the tips and “everyone gets some” regardless of what they did. I think it’s a combination of both but not having to work for the tips and not serving the same customers seems to make for so-so service. Maybe I’m wrong.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
It was pretty clean, I did see random drinking glasses laying around for a while. On other ships they were picked up by “any” employee regardless of their job. The layout of the ship was fine. There were places to be with the masses and places to get away from the masses.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The size is standard. It was clean and layout was good. It had the biggest bathroom and the best layout so far. The shower was very large- for a cruise ship, much bigger than an RV bathroom too. On this ship I wouldn’t stay on the 5th floor again, as your under the kitchen. Well they are a noisy bunch up there and they start cooking very early. Beds very very comfy, maybe to offset the noise
Ship tip
Don’t get a room under the kitchen, it’s on the 6th floor
We did a town tour. The town is nice and clean, but It felt like they were trying to make more out of it then it was. If we had missed this port I would not have noticed.
Not much to see here too. But we did have a good time by renting bicycles on the pier/port. We rode around went through “open hearth park” and then across town (very close) to “greenlink municipal park” and then back to the port. Very nice ride.
The Port was ok, it’s a bit town. We did the “Peggy’s Cove” excursion. It was a nice drive there, cute little fishing village, and I mean very little. It was nice to walk up to the light house. We bought a water color from a local artist.
We took the tour of Acadia NP. We had a better time afterwards walking around town looking at the enormous summer cottages of the years past rich and famous. There’s lots of shopping in all kinds of cute shops. We plan on returning here on our own too.
I’m from Los Angeles and I thought the traffic was absolutely crazy in NY. There’s some nice places to see in NY, but your better off just walking across town.
In NYC there are many ways to get around town Next time try the subway. Also plan out your trip more effectively by checking out the deck plans before booking so you can have a cabin that has cabins above and below for a quieter experience
