Review summary

Service and little touches seem to be scaled back little by little each year. From my last cruise two years ago, no more daily ice in the room, no more occasional towel animals on the bed. I was told by crew that additional tips added to bar and restaurant staff are retained by the company so not to bother - outrageous! Makes me a bit sad as a Latitudes Platinum.

Pretty fast!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Service in the Main dining room was quite slow. With the exception of Los Lobos, service and food in the specialty restaurants was excellent. Los Lobos was awful both in terms of food and service. Buffets were always busy; sometimes food was not as hot as it should be or had been sitting too long.

Los Lobos

2 out of 5

Terrible service and not great food. Waste of my dining package.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Spa is very expensive and massage services were not nearly as good as I get at home. At least I did not get a hard upsell on products this trip. Free fitness offerings weren't at particularly convenient times. Seems that shipboard activities are scaled back more and more each year.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Some of the musical entertainment onboard was quite good but most of the time it was much too loud. The magician was okay; timing and smoothness lacked a bit at times.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Friendly and ready to help.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship is aging and it shows. Kept quite clean, though.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
A bit cramped but par for the course. Steward kept it all clean. Carpet could use a deep clean. Would've enjoyed some pillows and a blanket for the balcony.

Ship tip

Sadly, it's not a non-smoking ship.

I'm glad to hear someone else had the same experience we had at Los Lobos. Well, technically I wish NO ONE had the same experience we had, but it's nice to know it wasn't just our opinion. Neither of us could even eat our food. There was an altercation between waiters while we were there that led me to whisper to my wife, "this does NOT bode well." I'm not sure what we were served actually qualified as "food" per se. I've had better Mexican meals from .99 cent frozen "Banquet Dinners." At least they're hot when you take them out of the microwave! :^) And we totally agree with your comment on smoking. My wife and I are very allergic to nicotine smoke. Sadly this is likely our last balcony after our last two cruises because we keep having to go inside and shut the door from people smoking up wind of us. NCL's revenue loss. Not that they care. But it would be nice to enjoy the balcony or mini-suite you paid handsomely for.
