Review summary

Overall it was pretty good but not exciting. Unusually warm weather cause less than peak foliage. We enjoyed ourselves as we went with a group. If we had gone alone we would have been bored.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was well organized and went reasonably quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was generally good with some excellent and some poor exceptions. Some portions were generous and some were skimpy. Consistency was not maintained. Mixed drinks were weak.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Entertainment was generally below average. The comedian was mediocre. A few shows were pretty good. The biggest disappointment was the BBKing Blues club as the band played lounge music and not blues. They seemed bored as they played. We had really looked forward to this feature and were let down. America's test kitchen was very good but no classes were offered. The movies were good and the theatre was comfortable and not too crowded. The gym was good and both the free and the for cost classes were good.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
As above.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Wait staff and cabin staff were exceptional. Always cheerful and highly responsive.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Older stately ship that was very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
We were quite pleased with our suite. It was spacious and quiet. The tv needed to be repaired on the first day and it took a few hours. The bath tub didn't drain well but everything else was fine.

Ship tip

The passengers are generally old and sedate. This is a cruise line for more geriatric cruises.

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

4 out of 5
We are originally from Boston so this was not a "port" visit for us.

Bar Harbor, Maine

2 out of 5
Poor weather caused cancellation of our bi-plane trip and we were very disappointed.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

3 out of 5
Interesting port with the history of titantic rescues and burials as well as the big explosion. We took a private tour which was good but too long.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

2 out of 5
Dull port with only a few historic houses and a pub to visit.

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

3 out of 5
Charming island with a pleasant private visit to the Anne of Green Gables homestead.

Quebec City, Quebec

4 out of 5
Wonderful city to enjoy walking on your own.

Montreal, Quebec

5 out of 5
Stayed for 3 days to enjoy this wonderful city. Did all touring on our own.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very well organized and fast.

I took a similar but longer cruise on this ship - Voyage of the Vikings.
