Worse than a Pier Runner ... A Tender Chasing the Ship!!!!

So we are supposed to leave Cabo at 1 and they start paging people around 12:30 ... this goes on until around 1:15 ... Anchor Up and away we go ... Pilot is about to bid us adieu and here comes a Mexican Tender full speed ahead straight for the ship. So we are all taking bets if the two people in it are going to be let back on board and how the heck they would get onto the ship.

Next thing you know, the tender and the pilot ship are headed back to shore and you could make out two people still in the tender, obviously screaming at each other...

Gee we were only there for 24 hours ...not enough time folks? Needed one last burrito for the road ...?

I think your right BonMike.

I think they are so self centred that they don't even think about how they are holding up everyone. All they care about is themselves, and figure the ship will wait just a few minutes longer for them to stroll or run to get on board. We've only seen them in Cozumel, but I'm sure it happens in other ports too.

i wonder what happened to the people Debbie saw on the tender. LOL

I was just thinking. I've never actually seen a literal pier runner yet. It's always been casual pier strollers. They must get a huge ego trip thinking about how they're holding up 2000+ people, actually 3000+ with crew and even more depending on size ship.

And I have no doubt these people get butt hurt and blame someone else when they do miss the ship.

dang right! As the guy who has to be at work 7:30 and someone is scheduled in at 10 can not make it until 10:15 on a regular basis SHOULD bring in doughnuts, coffee or chocolate for everyone... or get left like that couple was...

I hate it when they're late and they're just taking their sweet time strolling towards the ship. Don't show up late for work with a hot cup of coffee in your hands.

Debbie if anyone else shared all the experiences from this cruise, we'd never believe them. LOL It was definitely a week you won't forget for a long time. Happy

I do remember in 2014 in Nassau I was looking off the Lido watching these losers late to the ship, ship is waiting and they just strolled

..F them I say.

Yeah, I agree. I guess Captains get tired of it. It's like disrespect.

Nah don't stop for them. These types need to learn a lesson. They aren't the center of the universe and departure times aren't suggested times. Would love to have seen that incident. I have no sympathy for these late arrives. Especially when they are casually walking down the pier alone without a care as the ship rep is waving at them to hurry up.

I'm still surprised that the captain didn't just let them board through the pilot door on the ship. I know all the time issues the captain has. Next port. Fuel costs to pick up speed, excursions all that but if the tender caught up the ship could have slowed to boarding speed and let them on. No no no am I defends the idiots but since they were racing out on a tender perhaps the captain could have made a slight adjustment.
