Should Cruise Lines Offer More Single Cabins?

Do you think that new cruise ships should have more single cabins? There are more singles cruising than ever before. Is it time to cruise lines to accept this and build more single cabins? Right now single supplement surcharges can go as high as 100% of the cost of the cruise for a solo passenger.

I think there should be a few single cabins on each ship. It would not really hurt that much. My MIL is single and would love to go, but has no one to room with her as we are going during school season and the kids are in college.

Lol Love it!

As baby boomers age, divorce and widow there will be more people wanting to cruise in

a solo cabin. I have some friends that I will vacation with, but not share a cabin (they snore like a freight train. Being a solo traveler I think lines should ass more single cabins, not just inside but also Solo Balconies.

I agree, they should offer more single room cruises. Not everyone has a significant other and why should those particular people be forced to pay double occupancy. That is certainly not fair

One day I would love to try out a single cabin on say the Norwegian Epic. I just have to persuade my Wife to let me go away for a week or so. That's the hard bit.

I think that if they were to offer more single cabins, they would have less room for double cabins, thus reducing their profit. By lowering their "single supplement", again they would be lowering profit. Either way, they would have to raise prices to make up for the lost profits. (Of course, they could go with the lower profit, but then the shareholders would have a fit).

Possibly advertising cabin prices rather than per person prices might go over better, however the single would still be paying for two.
