Name on the Door

I do not like the way they put your full name on the door of your cabin ...TMI (Too Much Information). I was accidentally charged for a "couples massage" by the spa which I caught when reviewing my bill. If a cruise card is needed for every single transaction, how can that happen? The spa gave a lame excuse that someone may not have had it by them - oh but knew my name and cabin # ????

The only time we have had our name on the door was when sailed on the Regal Princess. I didn't know you could ask to have it removed. Carnival has never had our name on the door.

As far as being charged for something you didn't purchase, it happens often. We check our account several times a day and go to customer service as soon as we find the problem. Only once did I have to ask to see the charge and ask to compare signatures,

I've never had a name on my door. Sometimes the envelope, but more than likely they leave that in the room with my cruise compass.

On our second cruise, as we made our way aft on the Island Princess, we encountered our room steward. He addressed us by our names and stated that our luggage was in the room. Eduardo, then asked if there was anything special we require and assisted us in getting set up.

I asked how he knew so much about us, he explained that he makes it a point to know as much about the folks who's cabins he looks after, as he can.. The better to serve them.

There was a British couple across the hall from us and she liked he Gin and Tonic in a tall cold glass, He made sure that her iced glasses were always clean and fresh. There was always cold Coors Light in my fridge as well and a Bottle of white chilled in the ice bucket for us.

All because he did his homework.

And yes, he was tipped very well.

Glad to hear that.

As far as the name on the door, though, it doesn't bother me. Many others simply remove the door tag, though.

There was no signature - the spa credited the charge with no problem.

It really doesn't bother me. I fail to see what damage it can cause.

If someone is seeking to do damage to me, then they will already know where I am staying through their own intel (it really is not hard to find where someone is staying -- just tell customer service you are looking for BDRebel and they will more than likely give your cabin number).

As far as bogus charges, it happens. My bet is that the charges were removed when requested.

To the OP - was the signature on your receipt in your name?

That's what bothers me about it ... but glad to see it is not the "norm" on other ships ... I see no reason to keep it there.

I'm wondering if.... Sometimes the steward will leave an envelope or a flyer addressed to you for a special invite or free drink offer or something of that nature. If someone sees it before you and reads it. They will then know your name and cabin # for nefarious reasons. Just guessing on that but seems logical.

I would not like having our name outside our cabin. That would be like having your name outside your hotel door. That just would feel like an invasion of privacy.

I can only remember ever seeing this on Princess ships, and I’m not sure they did it on our most recent Princess cruise.
