Is this site losing its appeal?

I enjoy Cruise line but it seems the topics are getting redundant. I myself cant seem to come up with a new discussion topic.  Perhaps we need more players.

I find this site just right compared to the few years I spent on FV with the last year just dropping in to keep a certain post alive.

I'm ctav and I approve this message.

You should have been here a couple of years ago.  It was me, Glomarrone, and a bunch of other  make a few posts and leave types.   It's gotten much better and continues to grow.   If need be, take a break and come back in a month or so.

I think part of the problem is, new posters who post a hello, but never join in the rest of the forums.   That, and people who post pictures of their cruise, but don't join in the talks.  When FV was closing I told people about this site, and some came, some joined a FB group, others joined some other new group.   Not being a Carnival fan, I avoided it.  Oh wait, I did join, but only to post info for this site.

Simple solution, spread the word

I joined this site a while ago, and I enjoy it very much. The group is great and the sense of humour is wonderful. I really hope to meet a few of them on the cruiseline cruise.

It does get a little slow here sometimes.  Most everyone here has been cruising for a while now.  It'd be nice to have some cruise newbies asking questions.  I think they'd find Cruiseline much more open and friendly than a couple of other sites.  It's fun for me to be able to help sometimes now instead of being the one asking all the questions.

I have been around about 2 1/2 years now.  When I joined there was a core group and most of them are still around.   We love when nice new people join in and chat on the forum tops.

I have noticed that even some of the old timers lay low every now and then,  but they always come back Happy.

We are not the most exciting group (we try and keep it low drama) but we are the nicest, friendliest, and most help full site for cruising.  We have even posted topics when one of the core group was gone for a long time if anybody knew where they were.

I think it could be people have less time with the holidays coming up.  Don't worry they will be back and we will be here.

Sometimes there just anything to add to a topic. I do find this group very friendly and helpful with little drama.  I get enough drama with the Renaissance crowd (some of it is necessary, but some......). Thanks for being there with advice, answers, and a place to talk cruising without eyes rolling.Big Smile

Sometimes life gets too busy and there is just too much going on which is the case lately. So time to read and respond becomes limited. I love this site. It is a respite from the world. If I cannot be on a ship it is nice to be with people that think the same way about cruising.

I don’t believe this site is drying up. There may be periods of quiet, but that changes. I only frequent two forums, this and C.C. I’ve looked at others but wasn’t impressed.

The high points of this site are----The congeniality of most users.----The quality of the review format.  For instance, pictures usually come out nice and clear here, over on C.C. most pictures posted look like crap. And with C.C. one can’t comment on a review like we do here.

Over on C.C. things get so nasty they eat their young. But not always, once in a while a thread is of value there.

On C.C. I pay, or used to, a lot of attention to their Alaska forum. Sometimes, someone will ask a question regarding a bit of Alaska that I’m very familiar with so I can help out. But for the most part the questions and posts are very repetitive, like over and over again, what are the mosquitos like, or what month is best to cruise to Alaska or how do I get to town from the port, shore excursions, cheapest or best, etc. etc. Good questions, but the ones who can answer many of these more knowledgably are not locals, like yours truly, but frequent cruisers to Alaska. I do find I learn a lot about ports up here from visitors. But still I became disinterested in that forum due the repetition.

We often have the same here, someone will ask a good question, which receives all sorts of excellent and detailed responses, a couple of months go by then some one else asks almost the same exact question. One grows weary of repeating the same thing over and over.
