How do you choose your stateroom

Do you choose you stateroom solely based on price? We try to stay in the middle of the ship low down if we can especially if it a transatlantic cruise. We also try to stay away from elevators. Many passengers choose to be near them so they don't have to walk far. We will not take an obstructed view or an inside cabin. We also don't want to be close to the theater, luggage storage rooms or public bathrooms, etc..

You've mentioned the aft balcony before and it sounds like a cabin I want to try. Last cruise was inside and it was fine since cruise was short and an itinerary that I've done before. Couldn't do it for a longer itinerary. Mini-suite on the Island was awesome!!! Not sure if I'll ever do it again but will certainly not walk past a good price for one.

The price difference vs. time period can be a gamble. Last year I waited for the price to come down on the Star Princess and unfortunately it sold out! Yikes! So last three cruises I booked several months out and I think that might end up being my game plan from now on.

To date have always booked an aft (wake view) balcony. I know we pay more for this view but it is worth it (in our opinion). Could NEVER due an inside due to my wife's preferences. So far I have not tried a mini-suite, mostly due to location, but also because so happy with our current choices. I usually look at prices, then available cabins, then check dates when 'our' cabin is available. We normally book 6-12 months in advance. I see the big price drops around the 60-day time frame, but we stay with our pre-selected (and higher priced) cabin. I makes us happy. Lots of other choices for other fellow cruisers. Enjoy!

Over the shops might be fine, but DO NOT get one under them. We did and even though the shops are closed, there are people working in them early in the morning..... and they always seem to drop stuff.

My goal is to get a cabin mid-ship over the funshops. This way it is quiet at night. I also like to be near the atrium so we can walk out and see "what's going on" easily. It also keeps us near the elevators for easy travel to other decks. Have never had a problem with noise. Sleep like a baby on a cruise ship without fail.

Depending on the price, we usually go for an oceanview or balcony cabin preferably in the middle of the ship. I'm thinking you would really feel any rough seas at the front of the ship and there would be a lot of vibration from the engines at the back of the ship.

We usually pick a balcony away from the elevators, with cabins above us and below us, not near the atrium if it goes through to the top of the ship. We generally pick one close to the suites because they tend to be in the "sweet spot" on the ship. When we are feeling extravagant, we go with a suite.

I always try for a balcony. Not to concerned about the price. As long as its not ridiculous.

We look at the price, then location to book our room.

It has to be an accessible cabin. Location is not too important.

Long cruises.....balcony on deck 8. short cruises inside any deck
