How do you choose your stateroom

Do you choose you stateroom solely based on price? We try to stay in the middle of the ship low down if we can especially if it a transatlantic cruise. We also try to stay away from elevators. Many passengers choose to be near them so they don't have to walk far. We will not take an obstructed view or an inside cabin. We also don't want to be close to the theater, luggage storage rooms or public bathrooms, etc..

Away from the elevators and anything else that might be annoying when trying to sleep. Always like to get a balcony. Even though we hardly use them. Tried just about every type of room except the huge suites. Most of the time we’re out and about on the ship so the room doesn’t really make or break the cruise experience.

Snoring? I'm now using a CPAP because of my constant restless nights my DGF has when camping and I'm sleeping in a different part of the camper.

We look for close to the elevators, I do not hear once I am asleep, more likely the other people will get upset by my snoring!

I have had front of the ship cabins before where I was woken up and having to grab onto the bed frame to stop from being rolled out of bed on 2 cruises (Song of America Mexico cruise and Carnival Glory Caribbean cruise). I like to feel the ship move at night when I sleep as long as I don't get rolled onto the floor. I love when the ships have a sliding door to the balcony then you can lock the door open a couple of inches so you can hear the waves break on the ship.

I always look as high up and as far forward as possible, preferably Lido or higher. Got to be a balcony -- I can't deal with an OV or interior and can't afford a suite or mini.

Also have to make sure that I am not under/over/next to a noise factory

Price is a big factor for me. After that, I very subtly push my husband to a cabin that is easy for me to locate...near the elevator, on a corner, etc.--he loves to poke fun at me because I often get lost trying to find the room!

Another thing I've done that I will have to rethink is booking purposely towards the front of the ship to experience the movement, which I found fun. But there were two cruises where I had so much movement during rough seas that I couldn't sleep. So might start avoiding the front and try for the middle or back in future cruises.

Reading all the comments - I am going to stay with our aft balcony overlooking the ships wake.

As an aside - I love the feel of the propellers turning. Maybe an ex-Navy guy thing -- BUT -- I LOVE IT!!!

I've had cabins near the atrium and away from it. Love to be near where we can step out and look at the atrium area, hear the music, and see what is going on. Like the balcony, but can make a modest interior cabin work too. Need money for the Casino and shore leave.

Thanks, Aunt Pink
