Cruise Diet

Do you "diet" or start exercising before your cruise?

I admit that a few weeks before the cruise I'll be more mindful of what I eat. I love desserts and while cruising I look forward to eating them with each meal. That's my one "ritual". I can skip the meal but not dessert.

Lucky! We were aft too but I still gained 10 lbs lol

I eat what I want within moderation while on vacation and walk a lot - taking the stairs instead of the elevator helps as does getting in a 5 km walk before breakfast. That gives me the incentive to enjoy my food but not over indulge, and I don't gain weight.

Bare with the newbie to cruising here....again! Surprised I was all set for them to have to roll me off the boat because I was going to gain 10 lbs. from all the stories I heard. However what they forgot to tell me is that when your cabin is at one end of the boat and it seems like every time you want to go some place it is at that OTHER END of the boat, you walk your butt off... LOL I enjoyed my Chocolate Lava Cake every night and didn't gain any weight! Yummy I was shocked and VERY happy! Big Smile

Oh no, I have never missed a meal on board nor do I ever miss dessert at least at dinnertime. If nothing appeals to me, I order ice cream. We rarely have dessert at home unless is is fruit so I splurge.

We really don't diet, but after 60+ cruises the novelty of the food has wore off. We started a few cruises ago taking one of the small bullet blenders. We will make our morning smoothies and try to eat sensible at dinner.

We succeed about 60 percent of the time. I do walk more on a cruise, round and round on the deck, don't want to miss anything.

All the time at home – especially before and after trips – we always try to eat sensibly; sweets are rare. On a cruise we indulge in pretty much anything.

I only concern myself about dieting after the cruise. On a cruise, dinner without desert is not a meal in my book.

A cruise diet is also known as a see food diet. I stay pretty active while on board and have not had any issues or concerns with weight. It all balances out within a week or three.

I try to walk around the ship as much as possible so I don't gain too much weight.

We eat sensibly. We share desserts and avoid late night snacking.

It's easy to go overboard. That said, it's not like there will never be food on the planet ever again.... and hard to understand food hoarders at the buffet.
