Carnival pulled the plug this morning on their Funville Forums. A lot of cruise information was dispensed by experienced cruisers, myself included. Mostly about Carnival, but a lot of general info too. Many of us bonded, and joked and often became snarky in our responses. We had fun. Sad.

Carnival pulls the plug

Some very familiar names here. Good to see.
So I stumbled on this and I don’t really know what this is. You all seem really nice and fun. Here’s my issue, I hated the cruise... you all are fans of Carnival? The ship is beautiful but that’s about it for me. Please help me understand. Don’t be mean. I really want to understand.
As stated by Aunt Pinkie, we are Cruise Fans, not necessarily Carnival Fans.
If you don't mind my asking, what was it that you disliked about your Carnival cruise? Is it possible that you might enjoy a cruise on another line, or did you dislike cruising itself?
Although I used to be a Carnival fan, after having tried a few other lines, I find that I am no longer comfortable on Carnival - even though they do have beautiful ships, great food and superior service.
Actually, I'm glad this wasn't on shipmates because until this past April I wouldn't have been able to see it to respond. WisaWowers brought back a 7 month thread and I, hopefully, was able to answer some questions raised. It can now go back into the archives where it will gather dust, until someone brings it back again for clarification. Not everyone is on both Cruiseline and Shipmates.....
Move discussions to shipmates
You are welcome.
Yes. Thank you very much ð

Many people are not fans of Carnival Cruise Lines. Funville (now defunct) was a forum on the Carnival website for Carnival fans to chat. Some of those people have migrated to Cruiseline.com. Many of the original members of Funville have now sailed other cruise lines and still prefer Carnival or maybe like the new one(s) better, or have no preference. It just became a group of people that were sailing on Carnival and chatting on Carnival. This forum, on the other hand. has wonderful people who have a wider range of experiences on the different lines. This is a great web page to see benefits and information about ALL cruise lines. For me, it was the Cruise line I started with and continue to return to mostly because of familiarity and cost when inviting others to sail with us.
Does that help?

Haven't been on here for quite a while. I have never heard of Funville Forums. Did I miss anything?
We are big Carnival fans. We have tried two other lines but we like Carnival. Everybody has their own reason for which cruise line they cruise with. We just love to cruise so we do. The majority of our cruises on Carnival have been on a Salute to Veterans cruise. We leave on Feb. 3 2019 for our 9th one.
Funville was a forum on the Carnival website. Sadly, after many years it was eliminated. Not enough people to monitor it, when Carnival felt it needed them elsewhere. Many of the regulars from there are now on this forum, but some have gone elsewhere (I don't know where). That is where some of the silly comments were started. Posters were asking if they could bring things like a rice cooker, hibachi grill, hammock, etc. It created a tight knit "family" of Carnival cruisers. That is also where the idea of go-go dancing in the glass elevators started.
