My sister and I were never on a cruise and it was amazing. My dad wanted to go on a cruise which at 96 years of age we thought was too much for him. This was like an item on his bucket list which my sister and I wanted to share with him. He wanted so much to see the Panama Canal and thought a cruise ship was the best way. He didn't enjoy it as much as he thought he would. Its not the same as he remembered the Dam ships use to have more events and less commercial like the cruises my dad went on with my mom. He will always have a fondness for the Dam ships.

The guy on the outside of the building was a nasty SOB but everyone from getting our wheel chairs till we got to our room were wonderful. Thanks so much for this servicce. I'd still be walking to get on the ship if not for this service.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Actually we only went to two or 3 places. The Lido deck had several types of food to choose from but a buffet of this type is so hard on those who can't walk long distances. We chose to go to the "Dining Room" often for dinner as a sit down dinner is a lot easier on my dad, and myself. The people at these restaurants are the BEST.. We did get confused because there is a Dining Room on level 2 and 3 which was a sorce of confusion every day of our 10 day cruise. If we went to level 2 Dining Room we were sent to level 3 and visa versa.. We are still scratching our heads as to where we should of gone.. But no matter how confusing the people working at both "dining rooms" were simple the most perfect employees anyone could have. Thank you for all you did.

Onboard Activities

If you don't drink, there wasn't much do to and no activities that didn't cost money.. Too far to go to most places.. This is not a cruise for those who use walkers or have COPD.. Don't get me wrong, we loved the cruise as it was our first but was disappointed there wasn't much to do especially since all ports were closed for excursions or shopping..
Entertainment

My twin and myself went to listen to music and the band playing was really good but frankly not long enough set.. Just got into the music and poof! They are gone.. LOL
Children's Programs
we had no children with us and saw very few.. all we saw was swimming for the kids..
Service and Staff

From keeping our tables clean to our cabins, from the staff remembering all of our names, remembering our room numbers, I am so impressed.. Such an intelligent and friendly crew.. Perfect. We especially loved the Purell Police. Such good sports and so nice.. So So Pleasant

What a terrific idea to use hand towels in the bathrooms.. What a great idea to have no paper towels or napkins all over the place. This ship was so clean I was very impressed.
Cabin / Stateroom

we did start with other rooms first. We have my dad in one room and we were under the impression it was a room for handicap people.. My dad couldn't walk to the bathroom and his walker didn't fit in the room at all. This is partly the fault of AAA who booked our cruise even though my dad was right in front of her, she could see he can't walk well but wanted to go see the Panama Canal.. She didn't think of comfort, She told him we couldn't have electric wheelchairs or if we did needed a certain size. By the looks of this room she was right, not even his walker fit. We went directly to the main desk on the ship and asked to upgrade. Thank goodness we were able to do this because the rooms we got were so much better. The bathroom was perfect for my dad as it was for handicapped. Bathrooms are small but thats ok, we weren't planning to spend a lot of time in them LOL... I can't thank you enough for upgrading us. You all were wonderful.. Thank you
Ship tip
if you want to be confortable get cabins that are big, if they have two bedrooms and a living room got for it.. You'll be more comfortable.. Small rooms for people with handicaps are not worth going.
We were disappointed that we couldn't have the wheel chair brought to our fathers room or even by the elevators. We had to go look for our Pinnacle Bar meeting place but the people on the ship directing us just forced us to go with the crowd and wouldn't listen that we needed the Pinnacle Bar for wheel chairs. Once we got that straightened out it was a very nice experience from those who helped us out to finding us a place to sit and wait for our ride. Thank you for all you did..
Supposed to be leaving tomorrow for our 3/29/20 sailing on Zuiderdam HAL but it’s been cancelled so bummed under stay at home orders from our governor, hoping to rebook for February 2020 due to Alaska air imposing time limit for rebooking
