Review summary

We were happy to have this adventure but mom was exhausted. So much beauty to see. Pompeii was the best excursion for me. The water everywhere was so clear and blue. The mountains so beautiful. MS Westerdam is a fantastic ship and we had an awesome crew.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Very clean, well organized in the Lido Market for breakfast and lunch. Wonderful varieties. I especially loved the salad bar that I could choose from a variety of foods and made up by the crew. Main dining (anytime) was so delicious. Service was outstanding at every restaurant. Santana always sat us at a lovely table and Arifin and Angga, our dining stewards were fabulous. Sam took care of us a few nights as well. Excellent.

Onboard Activities

Loved the fitness center. Pool area was lovely with plenty of comfortable chairs to lounge in. Great service, too

Entertainment

Service and Staff

Dining Stewards, Sam, Arifin, and Angga. Seating hosts Santana, NoNo and Kadek. Our room stewards were second to none. I have forgotten their names and lost the card. The whole crew was just fantastic. Including the spa and salon. Peter, the spa manager, does a great job. Best cruise experience ever.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

Really loved being at the very front of the ship on the floor with no one above us. So quiet as no one passed our room at night. Comfy beds and pillows. Plenty of closet space.

Ship tip

Choose floor eight. Get a balcony with no obstruction. The fitness center and spa were right above us as was the walk way to the pool and dining. Really convenient. We loved anytime dining. The band at night for dancing after dinner was great as was the dueling pianos. I never felt like I needed to leave the ship.

One day was enough, but, we stay two. Heard the same from many shipmates. It was interesting to see all that Athens had to offer.

Mykonos, Greece

Pompeii was the highlight of my trip. so incredible. We had the best tour guide arranged through the ship.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

We stayed at a lovely little hotel called Il Corso Suite in a huge building with apartments and offices. Close to the on/off busses and the Vatican. Rome is so dirty. Bus fumes and cigarette smoke gave us both a headache by the end of the day. Sites were interesting but glad we only stayed one day. People very friendly.
