Overall the ship was nice, clean and comfortable. It (the decor) was a little dated but that did not take away from my good time. Everything was easily accessible, the elevators worked and I loved the way they put little carpets with the day of the week in the elevators; with so much coming and going, it did get confusing. I also loved the food. I was not please that our toilet did not work on a few occasions (our neighbors too). I was also not please with the shipboard cell/text charges, way too high!

We sailed to Australia/New Zealand in February 2010. The cruise was wonderful! The food and service throughout the ship were great. We had dinner in the dining room 4 or 5 nights which was wonderful. We ate lunch and some dinners in the Lido which was relaxing and the food was good. Breakfast in our room was served on time and hot. The room was large and kept clean. The entertainment was fun. The ship was beautiful and spotless. Laundry facilities on the ship were very handy but sometimes crowded

We enjoyed the cruise and were very pleased with the Captain keeping us informed of ocean conditions and schedules. Service was excellent and when we did have a request for anything our request was filled almost immediately.

We really enjoyed this cruise (only our 2nd) The service could not have been better and the food was very good. The ship was very well maintained. We would highly recommend this ship and this itinerary. Our captain kept us well informed of sights and points of interest as we sailed along. Hey Karen and Joey, you guys are the coolest!!! If anyone cares to trade photos hit me up!!!

Old and not very loved. Poor care was taken everywhere. All carpets were dirty &had enormous water stains. Elevators weren't working and malfunctioned daily. The dining waitstaff- very lackidasical & untrained. I left my camera behind, was the last person to leave, and appartently someone on the staff then stole my camera along with all Alaska memories- very heartbreaking. I have never heard of anything like this before- then the front desk was not at all helpful when I was in tears- wouldn't recommend this ship.

Its obviously an older ship but has been cared for and cleaned non-stop. We prefer Holland America over the other lines we have traveled due to their attention to details and their wonderful Indonesian and Philipino crew members.

we have cruised over 20 times Holland American is number one and have the best prices We will cruise again with them.

There were so many things that we were disappointed in that I don't know where to start. Food was NOT GOOD, orders were wrong in dining room half the time, pizza around the pool was tasteless and cold, pool area was dirty. some of the public bathrooms were dirty/messy. Our room had black mold in the tub area. Saleswome in upscale shop aloof and made you feel like you were imposing on them at times. Limited shopping. Staff was, for the most part, aloof and not friendly. If you requested something it took a long time to get it. Bartenders and spa workers were the exception (friendly).

I would rate this cruise as a B or B+. It was certainly good, but perhaps not up to the standards I would expect from a high-end line like Holland America. I would travel on Holland America again without qualms but would not seek out that particular line.

This was my first cruise! This ship got me addicted to cruising. I love the small-ship feel, and the wonderful staff on HAL. On my sailing to Alaska, the seas were so rough and everyone was sick. I can’t believe that after this experience, I still loved cruising and wanted more. I think that says a lot. HAL is amazing!

Beautiful views. Nice weather June-August. Ideal for 50+. Don’t expect younger crowd. Delicious food. Place to be is the library on this ship, if that tells you anything. Haha!

The Volendam is the nicest ship we have sailed on . It's the right size at 63,000 tons with 1400 passangers. This was our 14th cruise.It was our 3rd on Holland America. Our 2nd to Alaska. We have cruised to many places in the world. We been on five of the big seven cruise lines.

We have had three curises on the Volendam in the past year. Wonderful service. Great food. The Crows Nest and the Piano Bar should not be missed. Even though the sip was spotless, easy to manuver, and very roomy, we thought the staff was wonderful. The dining crew, our room stewards and the support staff in the lido and the officers were great. Thank you Holland for a wonderful THREE CRUISES in the past 11 months.

Overall the ship is beautifully decorated, (Xmas) & neat and clean, cabin very comfortable & veranda was good size. Altough as we said it was smaller it was well staffed in all catagories & well maintained. Our travel expert @ Cruises only , a young man named Chip was very helpful & obliging & very pleasant in all manner of contact with him. I would , because of him return to Cruises Only .

This was our second Volendam cruise. We left on Thanksgiving day and were totally disappointed with Turkey dinner which was dry and the stuffing had to have been measured out with a melon ball scoop (one scoopful). Overall the cruise was excellent, service attentive and maintenace of ship was superb. We enjoyed the ambiance of this smaller ship. We were, however unhappy with the blatant disregard for restricting smoking to designated areas and the lack of attention on the lower promenade deck where glasses and dishes were left all day, broken lounges left all day and the total absence of any drink service.

The Volendam was beautifully decorated and made us feel as if we were staying at an exclusive resort. Hand sanitizer was located throughout the ship. Also, laundry washing and drying facilities were available, which we took advantage of because of the length of the cruise (10 nights).We have sailed on more than ten cruises and this cruise was one of the best. We sailed ten nights but could have sailed longer. We hated to disembark the ship.

The ship was nice, our room was very nice and we enjoyed having the verandah. The food in the dinning room was very good. Service was excellent. All employees of Holland America were very helpful.
