Seeing the Panama Canal was wonderful. There were some ports and excursions that didn’t measure up but overall we had a great cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining room had very slow service and we were only a table of 2. We dined there 3 times for dinner, once for breakfast and once for lunch. It dinner service that was so bad. We started just eating at the buffets which was very good. Staff was really friendly. Do which there was more variety with regards to the buffet desserts. You could not get cake or pie the entire time.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness center, theater and pool

Entertainment

1 out of 5
The entertainment was geared to a much older crowd

Children's Programs

No children on the cruise

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was outstanding and did a great job. The beverage guy by the pool was very friendly and always made a point of calling us by our names and taking time to chat with us. The buffet staff was always friendly and offering any assistance. The main dining room waiter we had was not really on top of his game. He barely spoke with us and provided very slow service and we were a table of only 2.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship is old but well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Overall comfort and size was what was expected and it was clean. It was a noisy cabin however and we couldn’t figure out why. There were no staterooms above us, you couldn’t hear anything from the cabins on either side. The noise would start early morning and then again in the evening until after 10 pm each day until the evening prior to disembarking. Due to this, we believe our cabin was below the dining room kitchen or prep area since the main dining room was on the 4 th floor aft which is right about where our cabin was on the 3rd level.

Ship tip

Don’t book a cabin on the 3rd level.

Ports of call

San Diego, California Did not visit port

Drove in from Mission Viejo and have visited San Diego many times

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Liked the resort that we had access to as well as the beach area. The beach area was roped off so street merchants could not bother you

Puerto Chiapas (Tapachula), Mexico Did not visit port

No tour there was interesting to us

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala

4 out of 5
We had an excellent tour guide for the Antigua past and present. There really is no present however, as it is very old and historical. We did still enjoy seeing the sights regardless

Puerto Corinto, Nicaragua Did not visit port

No tours of interest

Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica

We did zip lining and it was the most awesome tour we have ever done. Highly recommend!

This is what this cruise is about and it was not disappointing.

Again, this is what this cruise is about and so glad we experienced it

Cartagena, Colombia

Street merchants are very aggressive! We did the city highlights tour and was the worst tour we have ever taken. Tour guide was horrible and did nothing to shoo the street merchants from us. Instead he dropped us off at 2 different locations for 30 minutes to be on our own. Not ideal!

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

It is beautiful and peaceful. We rented a clamshell to be able to retreat from the sun, when needed and Glad we did. It was very sunny but beautiful and relaxing. It is also very clean

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

It was pouring rain so the tour we had closed. The tour guide took us to a children’s museum and sanctuary instead and it was just a time killer before being able to drop us off at the airport. Not the tour guides fault but they should have backup plans for when it rains there since the tours state rain or shine.

Disembarkation

Felt there could’ve been a little more information as to the process regarding when to have your luggage out by and what floor to disembark on
