Vision of the Seas overview

Though Vision of the Seas is one of the smaller vessels in Royal Caribbean's well-known fleet comprised of mostly giants, the ship shares many signature amenities with its larger sister ships. Passengers can scale a 40-foot high rock-climbing wall, enjoy poolside movies on the ship's impressive Jumbotron screen, or relax in the adults-only Solarium. Vision also offers numerous structured activities, such as original theater productions, interactive game shows, and classes ranging from salsa dancing to sushi making. Plus, with a 6-story main lobby and expansive glass walls in many of its public spaces, Vision of the seas is designed to feel spacious, bringing the sun, sea, and sky to portions of its interior.

In 2013, Vision underwent extensive modernization, which involved not only cosmetic upgrades but the addition of new lounges and restaurants. This Vision-class ship, which accommodates 2,050 passengers, now offers 10 great dining options and eight bars and lounges. Additional updates occurred in late 2018.

Vision of the Seas itineraries and departure ports

Currently, Vision of the Seas departs from Fort Lauderdale, Galveston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, Puerto Rico, and Barcelona. The ship has various itineraries to choose from. Cruises range from 4 to 17 nights to destinations in the Caribbean and Mediterranean, depending on the season. Caribbean ports of call include Cozumel, San Juan, Barbados, and Grenada. Summertime Mediterranean cruises may include stops in Spain, Italy, France, Croatia, Greece, and Malta.

Before you book

This ship is best for: Vision of the Seas should appeal to travelers looking to experience Royal Caribbean’s signature amenities without the crowds and overwhelming size of the fleet’s mega-ships. This medium-sized vessel provides cruisers with a more intimate atmosphere while offering popular Royal Caribbean attractions, including a 40-foot-high rock-climbing wall, specialty restaurants like Japanese venue Izumi, and Royal Caribbean’s award-winning Adventure Ocean children’s program.

You should know: Passengers looking to experience Royal Caribbean’s more revolutionary amenities, such as waterslides and laser tag, won’t find them on Vision of the Seas. This medium-size vessel should keep cruisers busy with its wide selection of onboard activities. But, it likely won’t appeal to hard-core thrill seekers and families looking for the nonstop adventure that the fleet’s mega-ships provide.

Activities on Vision of the Seas

Vision of the Seas has a wealth of onboard activities. Active travelers will enjoy the ship’s rock-climbing wall and its upper-deck jogging track. Cruisers looking for more relaxing entertainment can enjoy front-of-the-ship views in the adults-only Solarium or refine their culinary skills with a sushi-making class. For a dose of luxury, the Vitality Spa offers massages and acupuncture treatments. Theater aficionados won't want to miss productions of Boogie Wonderland and Broadway Rhythm and Rhyme.

After dark, the fun continues with an under-the-stars pool party, complete with a DJ, drinks, and lots of dancing. Travelers can also visit one of Vision's eight bars and lounges, including R Bar, a 60s-style martini bar.

There’s also plenty for the kids to do. Vision's Adventure Ocean program provides education and entertainment for children ages 3 to 11. Older kids can socialize at the teen disco or play classic games at the ship’s arcade.

Vision of the Seas cabins

Potential cruisers can choose from four categories of guest cabins — suites, interior staterooms, ocean view rooms, and cabins with balconies. Over half of Vision of the Seas’ accommodations provide ocean views. Couples can opt for spa-like luxury with special Couples Retreat staterooms, while extended families find convenient room-to-room access with connected cabins. Each room includes a private bathroom with vanity, a sitting area, and interactive television.

Regardless of room type, passengers can stay connected with Voom Surf & Stream internet, enjoy nightly turndown service, and 24-hour room service. A stateroom attendant is always available to assist with special requests.

Vision of the Seas dining

With 10 available dining options, most cruisers should find something to suit their tastes. In addition to the main dining room, passengers on a budget enjoy several complimentary choices. Options include Park Café, which reviewers say is a must-try. There's also the Windjammer buffet for casual, global cuisine and a menu that changes daily.

Cruisers looking to splurge can choose from several specialty restaurants. The Asian-inspired Izumi and Giovanni’s Table serves rustic Tuscan dishes with a contemporary flair. For something out of the ordinary, passengers should try Chef’s Table, where they’ll learn about the food while they enjoy an intimate five-course meal with wine pairings. There's also the bottomless galley brunch, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the ship's galley. For dessert and coffee, cruisers can visit Café Latte-Tudes or grab a cone at Ben & Jerry’s.

Great Entertainment Cruise by morkinte

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Vision of the Seas

Vision of the Sea is a fun ship to travel on. It left and returned to port on schedule. The ride to Bermuda was a little "rock & rolling" because of weather. Had a good time with friends!
