Overall Sky Princess lovely ship with lots to do on board great value shopping - watches & Effy jewellery especially excellent value. Unfortunately cruise spoilt by poor service despite best efforts of more experienced staff. Princess need to put this right fast or their reputation will quickly suffer. Mediterranean cruise offers terrific cross section of ports. Southampton port authority have big issues to resolve- hopefully companies like Princess will be taking issue with them over their shambolic handing of getting passengers on & off ship & out of port efficiently.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Pretty shambolic - IT system crashing repeatedly & Medallion system likewise not working efficiently.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food was very good especially in specialty dining - Sabatini’s & Crown Grill superb - Seafood restaurant also very good as was Pizza restaurant- Service in main dining rooms very slow & drinks service likewise. It did get better as cruise progressed but pretty clear Princess did not have sufficient staff on board for a full ship.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Plenty to do & wide range of activities to hopefully suit everyone
Entertainment
4 out of 5
High quality entertainment- song & dance shows & featured singers especially good!
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Not sufficient staff for full ship. They did their best but found it difficult to provide top quality service quickly given manning levels.

Ship tip
If you find seats at any of bars on sea days green em & don’t move!
Lovely city - been often. If it’s your first time take the city hop on/off bus tour gives you great feel for city & you can get off walk around & re-join when you want.
A shambles- automatic gangway failed to align with Southampton port facilities & took around hour & half to put right. Queue for taxis was horrific & in total it took us over 4 hours from scheduled disembarkation time to getting into a taxi. Southampton port authority have much to answer for. No clear plan for directing people to their required destinations- car park / drop off/ etc. port cannot cope with 3 very large ships disembarking / embarking at broadly same time.
We agree with some of your positive and negative comments here, as we were also on this cruise. You are spot on especially about embarkation in Southampton which was horrific.
For us, we found the ship was too crowded and your comment about seats in bars on sea days was spot on too.
Since this cruise we have decided to cancel our next 2 cruises on Sky and Regal as the ships are to big for us especially when full, there is very little space.
The rush to get to the theatre in the evenings is something to be seen. We also found smoking in the casino, even in a small area was very unpleasant. So sadly goodbye to Princess and hello to a smaller ship on our next cruise.
We were also on this cruise and agree with all your comments. While no one could have foreseen the airbridge failing, the lack of a redundancy at the QEII terminal shows why it's unsuitable for large ships to dock. This, along with the itinerary swaps between Cadiz & Gib, were the fault of the Princess itinerary planners in my opinion and could have been avoided.
