Sky Princess

14 Night Spain France & Portugal (Southampton Roundtrip)

Sail date: April 09, 2022

Ship: Sky Princess

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The cruise was fine but the ship is far to big for us. To crowded and very busy in the evenings as could not get into the shows much of the time. Smoking is allowed in the casino yuk! We have cancelled our next cruise with Princess and booked ourselves on a smaller more upmarket cruise line. Think carefully about what you are looking for before booking on one of these huge ships.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
A complete and utter shambles. Sat in the car for nearly 90 minutes waiting to get out due to total lack of organisation by Princess.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
On the whole excellent but avoid Alfredo’s due to staff and management issues such as no customer service. Asked for the restaurant manager, who was clearly invisible.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
What you’d expect on such a huge ship but nothing outstanding.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Generally excellent but some areas were very poor. Staff in Club Dining were fantastic.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Could not fault the suite nor the staff who looked after us, excellent.

Ship tip

If you like holidaying on. Very large ship with many amenities then this is for you.

Ports of call

Gibraltar (U.K.)

1 out of 5
Not a place we particularly like, all rather tatty and a down market UK high street. Head off somewhere else!

La Rochelle, France

4 out of 5
Loved the old town. We made the mistake of going on the Il de Rea trip, felt there was not enough there to warrant a whole afternoon in the place. Many people loved it though.

Cadiz (Seville), Spain

5 out of 5
I gave Seville a miss, explored Cadiz on foot and loved the vibe of the place. Take a map with you as you leave the ship.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
Estoril, is where we headed and it was great in the spring sunshine. Lisbon we like anyway but we had spent time there previously.

Malaga, Spain

5 out of 5
A very pleasant surprise. Walkable from the ship and a great place to explore on your own.

Bilbao, Spain

5 out of 5
Loved this port in northern Spain but the guide was deadly dull and we went off on our own.

Vigo, Spain

5 out of 5
Found a fantastic place for lunch with authentic Spanish cuisine, a real treat.

Cartagena, Spain

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Much better organised then embarkation, but we were staying in a suite.
