Great Cruise however the demographics were leaning to older people with many walkers and walking aids by brianq94227843

Excellent cruise lots of things to see and do. Do not expect a party atmosphere which is what we wanted. The ship is clean and well managed. The cabins are a good size and always kept clean. The staff is exceptional.

Regent Seven Seas Voyager Shake Down Cruise by lisaspitzer

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Barcelona to Dubai  Just bad Agree with all the bad reviews. Newly refurbished ship with newly refurbished staff. Odor from the wet rugs and toxic fumes- sinus condition for 4 weeks and still have it. Tour guides awful- disembarkation awful Pre cruise hotel awful. This was just a horrific experience. Tour to Luxor cowboy driver. 3 hours- Everyone was afraid to get up and use rest room. I tried and almost fell- and I have great balance- Hubby threw up and missed first tour day recuperating. Disembarkation awful experience. Promised late transfer but did not happen. Was told if I dont like it to take a taxi and use the elevator to haul own luggage. And they make a 300% mark up on the pre cruise hotel. I was forced to do private tour at one port for $899 and the  private guide made $350 and had to pay hts overnite so he was left with $150. Awful--I could go on and on. Never told us it was a newly refurbished ship. They know cruise experts warn against that. They asked for time to get better- Yeah for that price I was not pleased to be the training program. Ugh stay away

not so luxurious by pmeone

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Pre Cruise Excursions were poor- Guides English poor itineraries inflexible i.e Tokyo towers in the fog asked to move on -no we were scheduled for 2 hours-

Poor communication from Regent on several issues- Never informed that wi-fi not available in Japanese waters-

Not informed when in Hong Kong that could not get money from bank with copy of Passport- lucky for some they had ATM.

Last day going to China lack of wi-fi Could not check in for flight-

Taken to airport in am - Japan Airline Desk closed- no boarding pass till 2:10- 3 1/2 hours in terminal- no lounge.

Trip other wise pretty good- good entertainment

Oceans of Quiet by lkurtzie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Ouiet Seas and Quiet Nights filled with good Bossa Nova from talented musicians. Regent does an excellent job with outstanding sevice and outstanding port trips highlighted with continuous bus service to the center of most towns visited.

Food, which seems to be a very important aspect of cruises to many passengers, is good. The main dinning room serves a varied menu each night which is tasty and well served. If there is one area which could use a polishing it would be, to my tastes, an upgrade to the Italian dinning venue.

In summary, both my wife and I feel that the Regent cruises are interesting and give wonderful value for the money.

Caution if you see the ship's "doctor" by sk8ldy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

We just spent 18 days on the Regent Voyager.  I would like to caution future cruisers to be aware of something that we encountered for the first time in the over 15+  cruises we have taken.  Four of us were quarantined to our room for 24 hours  Three of us were PERFECTLY healthy, showing zero signs of illness, and were never seen by a doctor to make this decision.

My husband had bariatric surgery five years ago.  For any of you who have had this, you would know that diarrhea can occur for a variety of reasons.   One can be a change in diet.

Well, as it usually does with my husband on vacation, he had this problem and had forgotten his medication.  He was not sick otherwise.  He went to the doctor to get some Imodium.  The doctor never ran any tests and had the nurse take his temperature.  It registered 2/10ths above normal.  The medical office immediately put my husband in isolation for 24 hours.

Shockingly, they also immediately put myself and parents in a 24 hour isolation as well.  We were never seen or examined.  A request by me to see the doctor was met with a letter from the doctor saying "contagious illnesses can spread easily from person to person in closed communities"--so why put 3 healthy people in the same room with a "sick" person for 24 hours?

We paid $133,488.00 for four us to be on this 18-day cruise in the Master Suite.  They put three healthy people, against our will, in isolation (same room all together) with someone who is perhaps sick with a contagious illness?  Is there logic there?  They had multiple service employees going in and out of the room all day--where is the logic there?  So under their rules, instead of one sick person, you now have four sick people, and a variety of employees who will perhaps get sick because they have been in the room.  The doctor made this decision in the few split seconds he spent with my husband, and again, he NEVER saw any of the other three people.

CDC guidelines recommend the isolation of sick passengers on a cruise ship.  They do NOT say anything about traveling companions.  This is a Regent policy.    While I completely understand the isolation of sick people, especially on a cruise ship full of passengers, in this case, it was overkill, and handled improperly by cruise management.  During this isolation, in our case, the General Manager did not contact us, and other than our regular cabin service, nothing was done to explain the "rules" or help us through that day.  The explanations only came later after I was "allowed" out of my room to speak with the Manager.  The Regent Corporate Office offered a pittance credit on a future cruise, which obviously I declined.

I would suggest, in the case of traveling with Regent, you use EXTREME caution when going to see their onboard doctor.   This is a venus fly trap meant to "catch" anyone who is even slightly sick.  The shop onboard carries no cold/flu medications (as it did in the past) by the way.  All of this is dispensed by the doctor now.

Again, my issue with this line is NOT the isolation of a potentially sick person, it is the isolation of people who show ZERO signs of illness with no attempt to see the perfectly well people to determine their health during the isolation day.  There was no meeting with us to discuss their policies that day, and we were just told by the nurse to stay in the room or run the risk of being taken off the cruise.  And we paid $7,300 per day for this?

By the way, none of the four of us were sick.  We did not get sick and remained completely healthy throughout the cruise.  My husband's diarrhea was presumably caused from the dietary changes on vacation as a result of the bariatric surgery.

Don't believe the negative comments - it was phenominal by fomiko

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Before we went we researched the cruise line, we had not sailed with Regent/ Radison for 10 years.  We were disturbed by comments of poor food, poor service, bad value for money, etc.  And yes this cruise ain't cheap, but it was damn good and an outstanding experience.  We chose it for the land excursions, Ephesus, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth, Pyramids, Luxor, Petra and Dubai which for me were the highlight.  But the food was outstanding in terms of choice, seasoning, taste and variety (my wife is a chef), breakfast choices were huge and dinner menus changed daily.  The galley tour was interesting, the galley was spotless.  The cabins were excellent and the little touches most appreciated.  The service was well up to that of a good 5 star hotel.  Everything was clean, there was always plenty to do.  We had 4 consecutive sea days and we did not get round to doing everything.  We enjoy a drink and the bar staff were just the best.  The entertainment was outstanding, we particularly like the Broadway style shows.  The Captain and officers were frequently seen on deck socialising with the guests which I thought was a good touch.  I could go on.

I do not understand what people have to complain about!

Regent Is Not for Everyone Considering the High Price by Opilo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Regent likes to tout itself as the ultimate all inclusive cruise line a cut above all the others.  But we found that the food, entertainment, and accommodations were no better or worse than other cruise lines at the suite level but triple the cost.  So, we paid a premium and didn't get much value for the money.  We have been on ten cruises and several cruise lines over the past several years, so we are not dedicated to any one cruise line, but we do like to travel in comfort.

The suite on the Voyager was nice, and the staff was as capable as any (they all must go to the same charm school).  Fellow passengers seem to fit into two categories:  those who love Regent and use them exclusively and the rest of us who were first timers.  Most of the first timers we talked two were as underwhelmed as us.  What makes Regent unique is the inclusion of all alcohol in the price, so the continual pouring on demand makes it seem as though you were a privileged guest in a home without worrying about who paid for the bottle of wine at the dinner table.  What makes Regent a pain is entertainment (dancing, etc) that forces one to eat late, and that was not our style to go to bed on a full stomach.

Because the land tours are also included in the price, most of us took them.  However, the quality of the tours was mediocre.  We got tired taking the tours offered due to the low quality. Would we do this again, no.  Would we go on Regent again, no.  The basic reason is the price per day for a suite is way too high compared to other cruise lines.  Was it a great trip, no.

Truly luxurious, and economical because EVERYTHING is included! by jgray37000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This ship was beautiful, welcoming and SPOTLESS. Our cabin had a huge walk-in closet, separate sitting area, vanity table abd desk and lovely teak balcony. There was always fresh fruit and the bar was kept stocked. The food onboard was extremely good and the dining venues and staff were outstanding. There was lots to do on the ship and the free ground tours were wonderful. It was over too quickly! We are booking a 17-day voyage with Regent for this Fall.

One of our best voyages ever. by Kennicott

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

A 22 day back to back begining in Stockholm, down the Baltics to Southhampton then circumnavigate the British Isles ending in Southhampton again.

This also was one of the best if not the best voyage we have taken.

After 20 years of cruising we discovered Regent in 2010. We are going on 100 days of voyaging with them now. This Baltic and circumnavigation of the British Isle cruise we just completed in September was outstanding. We had been cruising exclusively with Princess and HAL prior to that. We toyed with the idea of giving Silver Seas a shot but received a hint that their quality was on the ebb, the debacle on the Silver Shadow in Southeast Alaska this past summer confirmed that. Of Regent's three ships, we like the Voyager the best.

We have never had a cruise that we didn't enjoy, although, as with anything in life, there was an occasional blemish. We prefer the longer excursion type voyages, three weeks or more. The longest was on the Prinsendam for almost three months. In May 2010 we happened upon Regent. Would stick with them exclusively but they have only three ships which limits their itineraries. For a while we hardly even glossed other's brochures and offers but since have taken two cruises with HAL and have just booked another on HAL plus one on Princess this September followed by one in October on Regent. So we do cruise, and have passed the 500 at sea day milestone. My wife discovered the first cruise on Regent, to Alaska, on the Navigator. She really likes the absence of nickel and dimeing on Regent, which is turning into a joke on the major lines.

For us Regent stands out in these areas:

---Quality of shore excursions. (They go to lengths to arrange numerous and detailed itineraries while assuring knowledgeable guides who one can understand and most of the time limit the coaches to about 55% capacity).

---Quality and size of suites. The size of their D thru H suites are almost unsurpassed. They have walk in closets that serve as dressing rooms as well, the bathrooms are huge with walk in showers plus a separate large bathtub, on this recent cruise we had four large suitcases but only used about 35% of the drawers, hangars and cupboards. Their suite categories are smaller on the Mariner than on the Voyager and Navigator, although the Mariner does have extra large Penthouse suites.

---Outstanding demeanor of all the crew, i.e. room stewards, bar tenders, waiters, wine stewards, officers, etc.--Staff to guest ratio.

---Ship design, size and condition. (The Mariner and Voyager have pod propulsion which offers a noticeable absence of vibration and noise, particularly in the stern area where most conventional shaft ally powered ships have that negative)

---I particularly appreciate the dining arrangements, no waiting, no assigned seating unless we ask to be with someone else and we almost always get a table for two. Food is good, sometimes outstanding.--Wine is free (as are most spirits) and the selection is above average. They have two speciality restaurants which do not charge extra, the Prime 7 is pretty good. We weren't too enamored with the Signature though, on this last voyage. The reservation lash up for the Signature and Prime 7 needs some work and improving. However, on this trip, their regular dining room, the Compass Rose, was outstanding (better than the Signature even). What we have taken to doing is to determine right off which head waiter we want, then stick with him. Then, we "always" get the type table we want and the waiters know exactly our tastes, our names and how to set up the table. Beats the old traditional seating all to pieces, you know, the old way where you run the "luck of the draw" for tablemates and take a chance on getting stuck with nimrods for the entire voyage.

Free and relatively fast internet with an excellent and large internet cafe (which is the best we ever experienced)---Good selection of free newspapers delivered every morning (I like the New York Times & USA Today) and their TV news channels offer an excellent ideological selection, from left progressive to hard core right wing, (MSNBC is my favorite.)

Luxury cruise? by stefb00

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Ship was nice with a great itinerary. For the price, it's not a great deal. Having alcohol, excursions, and tips included in the price is wonderful. However, for the price the food should have been a lot better and there were some staff that were not friendly at all. I would try another cruise line next time.

Regent Voyager--never again! by RB1

Sail date: /
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

As someone who has spent an enormous amount of time on trips with luxury cruise lines, Regency Cruise Voyager is the most misrepresented ship sailing on the high seas. There is absolutely nothing luxurious or upscale about this ship, with the exception of the two specialty restaurants. The company was trimming and cutting services in order to make as much money as possible. From the moment one enters the ship, it is immediately clear that there is a distinct lack of security, cleanliness and oversight. The friendliness and professionalism that one expects on Crystal Cruises, for example, does not exist here. If all you are looking for is lots of food, of mediocre quality, at an inexpensive price, then you may be satisfied. If you want to sleep in a comfortable bed, have a lot of personal service, and a ship's crew that is both friendly and involved, then this is not the ship for you. The entertainment is abysmal, the shops are tacky, and the decks and common areas are dirty. Despite numerous letters of complaint while at sea, it was impossible, with the skeleton crew, to do what they needed to do. Many guests got respiratory sicknesses, including myself, because none of the staff enforced the sanitation rules that exist on other ships. The one doctor on board was so busy caring for everybody onboard that there was a constant wait by passengers to see the poor soul. The chef was new to the ship, and had no experience on cruises; in fact, he had no international experience at all. The cooking staff, who do most of the work, are inexperienced, grossly underpaid, and terribly unhappy. Finally, after a three week cruise, we landed in Singapore in an area designated for cargo ships and containers--the only cruise ship there. We were then carted by bus 45 minutes to the real cruise line dock and reception area. There was a princess Cruise Ship tied up there. We had been told it was all full and therefore there was no choice. The luggage was piled on container trucks and dumped on the ground with no one to help, which resulted in huge delays and many passengers were injured and missed connecting flights back home. Check out the videos and photos so you can see for yourself! My best advice to you is to find another line and don't ruin your vacation. A word to the wise should be sufficient. http://youtu.be/8TgUbR... http://youtu.be/cmCvsr... http://youtu.be/4JbcJb... http://youtu.be/mYFbaE... http://imgur.com/a/aLJbL

The Best Cruise EVER!!! by CodyB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: U.S.

This was the first time my wife and I have been on a long cruise... Usually we would cruise for about 14 days... once we both hit retirement we wanted to get the most out of our money.. so we wanted a really long cruise... When we got on the ship my wife was amazed by the amount of royalty (I guess you could call it that). The service was great especially in the restraunts... the food was the best and all the crew members were always happy... which is a positive... My wife and I are wanting to sail again with this cruise line and probablly on a cruise lenght about 140 days... there is just so much to see and do... oh and one other thing... I LOVED THE AT SEA DAYS!!! IT LET ME WORK ON A TAN AND GET TO KNOW THE INSIDES OF THE BOAT....

Absolutely the BEST by SueB9

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager / Destination: Europe

There is little to say negative about the ship, the staff, the amenities and the itinerary. We have loved our experiences with Regent. We have traveled to China, Japan and Hong Kong; also Russia, Tahiti, England, Scotland, Ireland, and now to Belize and Mexico. We think Regent gives a traveler the best value for his money. The staterooms are spacious, the food is excellent, the staff accommodating but not overwhelming, the entertainment really fun, it is just a class act!

The ship was pristine, clean, and staff always ready to serve without being in the way. The food was wonderful and we loved having room service breakfast every morning rather than get up. We had nothing negative to say about our entire experience and would get on another ship tomorrow if we could.

Great staff...TERRIBLE Regent Management by BooRegent

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager

The ship staff was splendid. The food was very good to excellent. Our cruise rep, Dustim, and the Regent management, are why we give Regent a "TERRIBLE" review. We live in Asheville, NC. Our area was completely devastated by Hurricane Helene one month before we were to set sail. No electricity, cell service, gas, or water. Neighbors were living in tents. The first day the National Guard set up a temp cell tower, we called Regent to try and postpone our trip. We were not looking for a penny back, just a postponement. We called for one month straight and could not get anyone to call us back, with the exception of our rep Dustim, who told us we'd hear from management. They never called. A week before the cruise set sail, we regained electricity but no water (as I type this, we now have water, but no potable water). We were volunteering in the neighborhoods helping people who had lost their homes. As for going away, we could no longer get anyone to come to our home to watch our dogs. We tried to use our travelers' insurance but we had to have a letter stating that our home was not habitable. The insurance companies had not deemed Asheville "uninhabitable" in spite of the presence of FEMA, the National Guard, and a visit from the president (you have to love insurance companies). A few days before the ship was to set sail, we finally received a call from a manager stating he had spoken to our agent (he referred to Dustim as "her" and "she", even though Dustim is a male), and told us we could not get out of the trip because "It sets sail in a few days--it's too late." We explained to him we had been calling for a month and that we only wanted to POSTPONE, given the devastation in our area and the extremely poor giving conditions. After quite some time going back and forth with this clueless individual, explaining we just wanted to postpone, that we could not get anyone to watch our dogs, how there was no water anywhere, (and by the way, how do you tell your neighbors living in tents that you're going on a CRUISE??) We were told by Renent management (this is a direct quote), "I just can't see how your request can be honored," and they hung up on us. Because we could not get a postponement and we could not get any help from travelers' insurance, we were forced into the decision of either losing thousands of dollars and saying goodbye to our "dream cruise" or making a big-time, last-minute scramble to get on the boat. We drove our three dogs separately to various friends and family and left our home. To add more stress to the situation, homes were starting to get burglarized, and we had no internet to set our alarm system. Was taking the trip the wise thing to do? We are not in a position to walk away from that kind of money after spending years planning it and saving up for it. Full disclosure: the staff on the ship was amazing, and the trip was fantastic. Crazily enough, the ship was only half full, so Regent would not have lost any revenue by giving us a postponement!!! To add even more stress for us was the ship's positively horrible internet. Voyager is getting old, and we were told it's soon going in for a significant overhaul. Guests were having trouble getting online and making phone calls the entire trip, which adds a lot of stress when you're trying to find out how your dogs, home, and town are doing. So, bravo to everyone aboard the Voyager, and SHAME on Regent and their uncaring, unsympathetic management. We will never cruise with Regent again.

Very disappointing by dfenstermaker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager

We were really looking forward to our cruise...But we started late due to unnamed technical reasons. We missed 3 ports of call...and went immediately to Turkey from one delayed day at Rome. While technical problems are one thing, the communications of the ship to the passengers was lacking along with the logistical planning involved in this kind of disruption. We enjoyed the staff and the stewards very much as they were top notch. But the trip was basically cut in half and the disruptions made it worse for the excursions. We did get some money refunded, but it was not enough to want to take Regent up on another cruise. (fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me)

Overall pleasant cruise with some drawbacks by InLA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Seven Seas Voyager

Regent does a very good job with food, drink, and service. But the Voyager needs an updated. It’s very tired. The lectures were terrible. They were basically Wikipedia articles rewritten for PowerPoint presentations. When returning to the ship from excursions on very hot days, Regent did not provide cold wash cloths like other cruise lines do. Also, when excursions span the lunch period and do not include a group lunch at a restaurant, we got nothing and the restaurants were closed when we return to the ship. Other cruise lines provide a box or sack lunch on such occasions.
