Review summary

Regent does a very good job with food, drink, and service. But the Voyager needs an updated. It’s very tired. The lectures were terrible. They were basically Wikipedia articles rewritten for PowerPoint presentations. When returning to the ship from excursions on very hot days, Regent did not provide cold wash cloths like other cruise lines do. Also, when excursions span the lunch period and do not include a group lunch at a restaurant, we got nothing and the restaurants were closed when we return to the ship. Other cruise lines provide a box or sack lunch on such occasions.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Smooth—no problems.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All the food and drink were excellent! This cruise on the Voyager was much better than our previous experience on the Mariner. The chef really does make the difference. I’m knocking off a star because of how some of the excursions make it impossible to have a lunch on some days.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Average among all cruise lines—not any better.

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent staff!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Regent does a good job keeping the ship clean, but it’s worn, dated and needs a refurbishment.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Good size and design. We were disappointed that it was badly worn, particularly the carpeting, curtains, and wall paper. It’s a dated design.

Ship tip

Do not book the rear facing cabins at the back of the ship. There is considerable noice and vibration, possibly from the propellers.

If the buffet and restaurants are closed, surely you had the option of room service?
