This was the worst excursion I’ve ever taken, Not worth wasting your hard earned money, save it for other excursions. The place was filthy, trash piled up everywhere, graffiti scrawled on every surface. Dilapidated, stacked empty unpainted moldy homes. Beggars on every corner. The people who live here show no pride in the appearance of their county. Tourists aren’t safe and are warned before leaving the ship they may be pick pocketed.

Felt uncomfortable and threatened by guys from a band by the market, pushing a collection hat at me and saying " You give me money!" in a very pushy way. Rest of the place is filthy and uninviting. No idea why cruise companies stop here!

Good for stretching your legs! Not much to see here! Do NOT exchange money in a bank! Better deal on ‘black’ market! Note: 65 and older ride funicular free!

Salvador is, without question, the worst-smelling city of any size that I have ever encountered. It was filthy, and the incidence of petty crime was far too frequent for my comfort. And yes, I have travelled quite extensively.
