Review summary

We were really looking forward to our cruise...But we started late due to unnamed technical reasons. We missed 3 ports of call...and went immediately to Turkey from one delayed day at Rome. While technical problems are one thing, the communications of the ship to the passengers was lacking along with the logistical planning involved in this kind of disruption. We enjoyed the staff and the stewards very much as they were top notch. But the trip was basically cut in half and the disruptions made it worse for the excursions. We did get some money refunded, but it was not enough to want to take Regent up on another cruise. (fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me)

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
We missed our reserved dinner at the fancy dining room. We only had one night to experience it and it was a very long 3 hour dinner which made us miss the entertainment for the evening. The general dining facilities were good with the staff every present and helpful. The basic meals were all quite good.

schedule was messed up by the late departure...it went down hill from there...

Sorrento, Italy

We were unable to stop here because of poor planning...

Santorini, Greece

We skipped this port as well as our back up before it in Palermo...

Izmir, Turkey

We very much enjoyed our visit to Ephesus. The rug merchants are part of the visit...high pressure sales are to be expected...The tour staff doesn't protect the single travelers from being pressured to buy something.

Istanbul, Turkey

Always loved Istanbul...not enough time...the excursion we would have gone on to the Hagia Sophia was not clearly explained. The Topkapi palace was the other option which we found ourselves on.

Mykonos, Greece

The boat tenders could not handle the high winds. The disembarkation process was difficult because of a lack of communication. The person explaining all this had a thick Russian accent and was not very forthcoming. Departures were delayed by over an hour cutting into our excursions...A little better communications would have gone a long way to calming the passengers.

Piraeus (Athens), Greece

Loved Athens, but there were no excursions as this was the end of the trip. We stayed at the Grand Bretayne which was expensive but very nice. Pro tip: the coffee and croissant breakfast on the roof is the best bargain. 8 Eu for 2 persons...
