Review summary

The ship experience was like staying at a floating five star hotel with several five star restaurants with lots of optional activities. Will definitely do another Regent cruise once Covid gets under control. Still too much uncertainty about access to foreign ports

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent food with great variety available. Specialty options provided added variety.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Stage variety shows were impacted by cast Covid cases but alternative shows with comic, magician, violinist, etc were very good. Very much enjoyed Ed's piano playing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The entire crew was fabulous. Great service and always a smile. Were most impressed with Gao at the Compass Rose desk who, after only two nights, remembered our names and cabin number.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Outstanding ship. Only negative we noticed were the poor sight lines in the theater balcony. We were impressed with the level of attention paid to cleaning as part of the Covid protocol, being firm and polite in reminding passengers to wear a mask, and the daily reporting on the number (few) cases of Covid on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Loved the large closet and double vanity sink. Plenty of room and very nice balcony. Only negative was the bed was softer than we like.

Ship tip

Until Covid gets figured out, need to be flexible and be willing to accept changes.

Ports of call

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Port closed due to Covid. Key West was substituted and we had been there several times.

Cartagena, Colombia Did not visit port

Port closed due to Covid. Added sea day.

Panama Canal Transit Did not visit port

Transit through the canal was great and there was excellent commentary. Wish we could have stopped in Panama City or other Panama port.

Puntarenas, Costa Rica

4 out of 5
Not much to see in Puntarenas proper but had a great guide (Irene) for our tour.

Puerto Corinto, Nicaragua Did not visit port

Port closed due to Covid. Added sea day.

Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala Did not visit port

Port closed due to Covid. Chiapas Mexico added. Not a lot to see in Chiapas.

Acapulco, Mexico

4 out of 5
Old city is pretty run down but nice view from Flamingo Hotel. Longish bus ride to the newer part of the city and nice visit to the "cross"

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Had great experience with the harbor cruise seeing a lot of whale activity and views were spectacular. Visit to San Jose del Cabo was very nice.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
Nice city with a chance to explore the town

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
Spent a couple of days on our own in San Diego. Great city.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
A little disorganized with passport checking and it took a bit longer than advertised but not a big deal
