IIs Royal Caribbean cutting too many corners? by fivepucks2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

I think that the quality did not measure up to to cost on the RCCL Serenade. I think it needs a full cleaning and updating. Air exchanges are needed if they continue to allow smoking on board. I would not sail on this ship again. Maybe a different ship in their line, but I definitely preferred my prior Princess Cruise Line sailings more.

Relaxing ... glad it was only four days by ghapril12

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Bermuda is a great getaway for people in Boston and New York. Original cruise was for five days, changed to four. So glad there is nothing to see other than the beach. If you are not a beach person, little boring. Why do we want to go shopping? That’s something we do at home in our favorite stores and can find more bargains. Cruising now is expensive...not like years ago where you could afford to go shopping for gifts. Very few people buy gifts. Need to rethink how people spend their money.

It was OK by rsousa6359

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

If it wasn't for our great service we would not consider Royal again, even with a credit we have because of the day we missed. We had a ask to have a photo taken. Throughout our cruise we watched photographers take photos of "couples" (men&woman) or people traveling as a group but never did they approach us. Neither of us are much drinkers so it didn't bother with the lack of servers walking around taking orders by the pool or decks but we heard tons of complaints about it. I know you don't want to create panic on the ship but one of the nights was realllllly rough. We felt safe but their were people that would have like some reassurance but nobody was warned of possible storm ahead .

Boston to Bermuda Cruise cut too short by katumana

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Bermuda

Our 5-day cruise from Boston to Bermuda was cut short by 1 day due to the ship coming into port late. I understand that weather related issues happen, but it would’ve been nice if the cruise dates were shifted out by 1 day instead of shortened as that really limited our time on the island and overall experience. I expect that did not occur because it would impact the cruise after ours, but I believe that was a 7-day cruise so shortening that to 6 days vs ours to 4 wouldn’t have reduced their overall time like ours.

Wonderful Baltic cruise by Earoundtheworld

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

I picked this cruise because it was giving a broad overview of the Baltic region and made a full 3-day stop in Saint Petersburg. I was not disappointed! Everything on board was very nice and I consider good value. Concerning ports-of-call, I would just remove Fredericia and substitute it with a second night in Warnemuende to make this itinerary perfect! The biggest surprise was Visby - an absolute must! My whole family enjoyed it (even my wife who tends to be sea-sick) and we'll come back for other cruises.

Long Lines and delays in St Petersburg by fmaguire

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Don't know if it was the Russians or RCL (or both) but the St Petersburg return to ship was a mess. The security line went the length of the building plus the parking lot and it took 45 minutes to get to the building and another 15 to get to the ship. We will not do that again!

Exhausting, Amazing Scandinavia and Russia cruise by nlfradin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

This itinerary was on my bucket list and I’m so glad we did it when we did. The shore excursions were taxing but worth it. I do not recommend it for folks with difficulty walking as the pace and the cobblestones would present quite a challenge. The ship reminded me of how much I enjoy smaller ships. We were spoiled at every turn by staff and got to know so many of the other passengers, which really doesn’t happen much on a ship of 6,500 passengers. I couldn’t imagine a better experience, unless, perhaps, I had won big in the casino.

Baltic cruise is great for the ports, weather is not bad in May. Sunlight is crazy long though, sunrise at 4am, sunset around 10pm.

Wonderful Trip! by MichiganCruisin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

Overall we had a great time, however as experienced RCCL cruisers there were a few things that really bothered me about this trip. The breakfast service was horrible, and embarkation and disembarkation chaos only made it much worse. There were also some organizational things that were just irritating and that we hadn't experienced in past cruises.

Relaxing Spring Break Cruise! by DeeLew

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Serenade of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We chose this cruise, knowing it was an older ship with less amenities, because we wanted to enjoy a longer vacation and the 10 nights option called out to us. We ended up in a stateroom (#3606) with a great location to all the places we frequented the most (the gangway - deck 2, Reflections dining room - deck 4, Windjammer - deck 11, kids adventure club - deck 12, Centrum w/ music - enjoying music on all floors as we walked up or down the stairs, and the coffee shop - deck 5). The food was very good overall and service around the ship was also very good. Only downside was trying to get lounge chairs pool side. That was a challenge, but the couple of times we got lucky enough to get a chair, it was very nice. Also ping pong was great, but in a poor location (for those walking by!), but it was under cover so the ping pong balls did not blow away :). I'd also recommend the sushi making class, that was very enjoyable and you got to eat your creations, which were delicious. Kids club was a hit for our children (ages 9 & 11) and they were able to check themselves in and out, they loved the responsibility! Side note: Royal App needs a lot of work. It's a gret idea, but don't rely on it for booking excursions or having all correct info.
