This itinerary was on my bucket list and I’m so glad we did it when we did. The shore excursions were taxing but worth it. I do not recommend it for folks with difficulty walking as the pace and the cobblestones would present quite a challenge. The ship reminded me of how much I enjoy smaller ships. We were spoiled at every turn by staff and got to know so many of the other passengers, which really doesn’t happen much on a ship of 6,500 passengers. I couldn’t imagine a better experience, unless, perhaps, I had won big in the casino.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Absolutely perfect. From transfer bus to cabin in 15 minutes.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Only did the Windjammer twice, but food was good and plentiful. Main dining room experience was perfect every time. Chef’s Table was excellent, and Mystery Dinner Theater at Giovanni’s Table was the best. I highly recommend the filet mignon.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Too cold for the pool but plenty to do anyway. Trip was very port intensive so the only time to relax and enjoy activities were the 2 sea days. Lots of fun trivia games.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We only got to a couple of shows because of late dining and lots of table talk but the ones we went to were excellent. The Barricade Boys are not to be missed and the Mystery Dinner Theater was a blast.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Impeccable service throughout. Wait staff was fantastic and our room steward was a joy. Smaller ship means they spoil you more, I think.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Ship was very easy to navigate and quickly became home. Everything was clean and neat, but some carpet and furniture are showing wear.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was spacious and comfortable with a good sized balcony. Lots of room for two people, but can sleep 5.
Ship tip
Not as many bells and whistles for kids as the newer ships but perfect for those looking for what cruising used to be. Fewer people on board means that you get to know more folks which is lots of fun.
One day was not long enough, even though we did 10 hours at a sprinter’s pace. Highly recommend seeing the Hermitage, Peterhof, and the Church of The Spilled Blood but felt like we missed so much more that was there to see. Bring your running shoes for this day.
