Review summary

It was a nice cruise even with the issues. I also lost a pair of Apple AirPod Pro headphones in our cabin which apparently never got turned into lost & found. They had my name engraved on the case & I tracked them to the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Guess the steward got that as an additional tip. As a stockholder I was disappointed in some of the things that went on aboard the ship. Somehow my daughter who was a child at the time became the primary on our account and was give the final bill at the end of the voyage. Also, after several attempts to contact Princess customer service & stockholder relations my emails went unanswered. If that’s how Princess wants to treat their guests & stockholders then perhaps I’ll look for another company to cruise with & buy stock in them instead.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was fairly easy but we had booked a suite so we had a more streamlined experience.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The food was decent. Although they did run out of lemons 1/2 way through the cruise. How do you run out of an item that you’ve bought the same quantity of for years?

Service and Staff

This is a sensitive area. I felt that we were treated differently from the “home based” guests. The folks that lived in the San Francisco port. They seemed to be fawned over & we were snubbed when we asked for anything at the dining venues. Our steward on the other hand took good care of us. At times it was difficult to get a drink delivered. I was sitting in the ships cigar lounge enjoying a cigar & had ordered a drink that never came even though the bar was 40 feet away.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our suite was large & had one of the largest balconies on the ship. Plenty of room to relax & watch the glaciers & sights. If was a bit old but it was nice.

Ports of call

Juneau, Alaska

It was small. We booked an excursion & were then told by the cruise line that it was cancelled. We went to the same place on our own & had the same experience that the cruise line would have provided. What a bs move on Princess.

San Francisco, California

It’s changed alot since I was there long ago. Businesses along the piers have shut down for good & the city had a lot of homeless people about. Theft was witnessed by my family & I in a parking lot right by Pier 39. Smash & grab from someone’s car in the parking lot.

Victoria, British Columbia

We paid for a bus tour with a food stop included. We got to the port & were told that we have 4 hours in port and the food stop would be cancelled. No price adjustment was made by Princess. Disappointing.

Disembarkation

Disembarking was easy. We had passports so we bypassed the really long birth certificate line & got right out.
