Alaska at the beginning of the season was wonderfully cold! Not much wildlife but lots of snow capped mountains! Disappointed with Princess a bit versus our pre-pandemic experiences with them but still had a wonderful and relaxing trip! You must pack your patience and roll with the changes when booking a cruise right now.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had Group A at 11am and were having lunch on board within 30 minutes of arrival!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Definitely not the same quality food we had onboard the Ruby in 2015. Less variety on the buffet, bacon tasted a bit funny and the desserts were lacking. But the pizza was great!
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Shows were ok, comedian was ok, but I think it’s time Princess upgraded their entertainment.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was excellent as always!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Never a fan of the Princess ships aft elevators trapping you at the dining room, and the ship needs a little TLC but the cleanliness of everything was top notch.
Cabin / Stateroom

Great room with aft location. The motion sensor light by the closet got a bit annoying. But the balcony was huge!! Half covered with a larger dining size table. Really nice.
Ship tip
The International Cafe puts the cookies out at 11am! Get there early before the piggies take all the chocolate chip!
Such a beautiful place! When at Margerie Glacier, sit silently and listen for the thunder! That’s the sound it makes when it’s calving. Such an amazing experience.
The White Pass Train is very cool! The hike to Yakutania Point and Smuggler’s cove are great! Then walk through town to The Klondike Doughboy for the Alaskan Fry Bread! Delicious and there’s a great coffee place next door to sit and enjoy it!
Cute little town with lots of seaplane excursions which are a blast! Also a great little popcorn place on the edge of the waterfront across from Berth 1.
I was told our ship was sailing at 80% capacity. Only time we had lines were when the buffet would open, especially on our Juneau day as we were docking at 1:00 and everyone was trying to eat before they got off the ship. And there was a line for petting the Alaskan musher puppies which ended up being sick and did not get on the ship :(
Thanks for the helpful and informative review. I am a little concerned that Romantikcruiser will get to the chocolate chip cookies before I get there. Now I know we have to get there promptly at 11:00. Thanks again 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
