It's night and day compared to my previous Alaska cruise with Princess. This one is much worse.

Some of the worst food I have ever had on cruise ships. It's not that the food were bad, they will not very enjoyable, just things to fill you up. Those frozen tasteless pack of "seafood" (tiny shrimps, muzzles, etc) were redressed with different sauces and presented as different dishes... Faux pas ethnic food all over. I had a duck a l'orange on formal night and it was
awful. Cost cutting in food is just too apparent.

Cabin is nice. There was a strip of LED that's meant to lit up when you go to the bathroom. That's just too sensitive, lit up even when i moved around in my bed (my entire body well within the boundary of the mattress)... really annoying, points off there
If it weren't for the US law, no cruise ships would have visited this place. By definition it is a filler port. (there is a safeway and walmart so you can also think of it as a supply stop)
Sorry your first cruise was not very good. Reading other reviews it seems that, like other lines, food and entertainment varies from week to week. May your next trip be better if you take one.
