Review summary

One main issue I had with this experience happened during check out. I wanted to have my on ship expenses directed to a different funding source than what was used for the booking of the cruise. When I tried to check out and do that, I was told that I could but then the charges would take two weeks to be returned to the current card on file. Not that this was an issue for me but I can see how holding charges like that for others could cause a financial issue. That was not acceptable. This should have been made clear either at the time of the booking or once on ship, to be given a chance to change or verify your funding source prior to any charges being made would be the more appropriate way of handling this.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We really only had two issues. The beef Wellington was soggy, not the right type of dish to serve on a ship. We only went to one specialty restaurant and were disappointed in the food. When oysters on the half shell leave a milky film on your fork and when we told our waiter about it he did not seem to care.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The fact that we had to pay extra to gain access to the only adult only section of the ship was disappointing. Not that there were a lot of kids on board, more the principle behind it. Really to cold to use the pools, I have been on other ships that have the ability to enclose the pool. Again not really the ships fault.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The comedian brought onto the ship was great. However, on the first night the show was in the theater, nice, the following three shows were back to back and in one of the smaller bars that could not hold the volume of spectators wishing to see the show. The ships crew productions were really bad. The choreography was just bad. Not very entertaining and the premise behind the show seemed to only be more advertising for ports of call.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone on staff was great. Even the couple of employees that were not happy about their positions provided excellent service.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
With a full ship we were impressed with the flow of the passengers. We really did not know the ship was fully booked until the end of the cruise when we were told so. As for cleanliness, for the most part the ship seemed clean. We did see personnel wiping the ship down all the time. Yet we found the ship in general to be dirty. The main staircases steps were dirty enough that you could see the dirt and dust on the steps. The ship in general just looked liked it needed a good scrubbing down. You can only wipe something clean so many times before you get a build up and just need to scrub it clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was fine no complaints. The only issue I have is on the last day, we packed our stuff up and headed down to breakfast, when we got back to the cabin, the steward had already made the bed for the next guests. What if we wanted to relax a few minutes before we were due to disembark? Were our sheets really clean when we got on board?

Ship tip

One thing both my wife and I found to be annoying and disappointing was the constant selling. Several times we made comments to each other that we felt like we were at a flea market or stuck on a time share cruise. Tables out in the hallways filled with cheap merchandise, rolls of low quality gold chains etc. is not the views I want to see when I am trying to walk to dinner.

Shopping was interesting, while there was a lot of crap there was some quality items.

Skagway, Alaska

Ketchikan, Alaska

It was moist to say the least.....yes we know that is normal.

Victoria, British Columbia

While this is a beautiful city, the timing of the stop and amount of time allocated for this port was worthless. It would have been better to have added those couple of hours in the Ketchikan port.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
While the experience itself was not bad at all, the communication was horrible. We were told that we had to be in the staging area with our group on time and could not deviate from the schedule. When we showed up a bit early to the staging area, the announcement was already being given for last call for our group. When we questioned it, we were told that it did not matter when we left the ship nor that we had to leave with our group.
