Royal Princess 10-Day Southern Caribbean by Cruiser19707214

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The ship was very nice, but there was limited access to the promenade, and no access to the front portion of the ship.  Food and entertainment were very good.  Poolside pizza is the best ever.

Wonderful by jh17bw17

Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We had an extremely enjoyable cruise on the Royal Princess through the Southern Caribbean.

SHIP: The ship has a very tasteful decor. Subtle, tasteful colors mixed with elegant accents throughout he ship. The atrium is beautifully appointed and is the central focus of the interior activities.

The entertainment was good and provided a wide variety of venues and formats in which we could participate.

The food was prepared extremely well. We enjoyed the anytime dining. The selection was varied and interesting.

PORTS OF CALL: This was our first trip to the Southern Caribbean. The islands all have their own flavor and heritage. We were surprised at the diversity. All our experiences were safe and interesting.

The most uncomfortable start to a cruise .... should have stayed home by japmel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The best part of the cruise was the dining halls and drink package! The excursions were good but not enough time !

The service by our cabin steward Gary from the Philippines was excellent  but he had no pull in helping us deal with issues in our room.Angry

10 Day Royal Princess Southern Carribbean by tarheelmd80

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Sailed with Princess multiple times.  Have always been very satisfied in the past.  In fact we sailed this ship in 2014, loved every part except the TINY balconies.  So this time, we booked an extended balcony room on the stern of the ship (it was wonderful!).  Overall, really good value for the money, however, there was a noticeable decline in the menu offerings in the main dining room, as well as a decline in service - most likely due to cuts in the number of staff.  It was frustrating to have to wait long periods of time for water or iced tea.  The Crown Grill (small surcharge) was wonderful - we went there for dinner 3 times.  The buffet also very spacious and well laid out, with excellent offerings and quality.

Princess cruise by syvitski

Very good ship..with excellent staff.  While smoking is diwn and even the casino had non-smoking days it would be nice to see non-smoking cruises.  The entertainment is aimed at an older audience with limited variety.  The nominal fee for specialty restaurants is not nominal but quite high.  All of the main dining rooms serve the same menu.  This is very limiting.

Southern Caribbean 10 nights by lianng

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Center piazza makes for easy gathering of friends and activities.

Cruise is too focus on shopping - lacking highlights on ports visited. Feels like I have not gain anything from visiting all those islands as they all promote the same shopping areas and not of the islands themselves. Didn't feel like a trip at all - more like visiting the same shops from one port to another.

First time with Princess - Met our expectations well by raybianco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Hi there - we're a gay couple in our late 40's early 50's from the NY area - previous 10 cruises with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.  The short four day itinerary from Port Everglades lined up with our post Thanksgiving plans.  The learning we took away from this is there's little difference between lines on the core items.  Its brand attitude and execution that ultimately drive the points of difference. Royal Princess is a impressive ship on the outside.  Embarkation was the easiest we've experienced.  We found the ship's staff to be among the friendliest and most attentive - in the dining rooms, while on deck or ashore, awaiting tenders, during the hosted LGBT meet up.  Royal Princess has many nice design elements to flaunt - among them her Piazza, main pool chaise platforms, the glass bottomed bridges, dancing waters and large screen.  The food quality was good to passable.  The buffet had a lot of options.  Royal Princess also owned the "fun" from sexy legs contests to movies under the stars - squarely positioning her as a mass market vacation - while offering access to premium experiences - tea time, wine tasting, the Sanctuary, a well attended art auction, and lectures more likely found on better lines.  It was a nice balance that appealed to our middle class roots.  That said, we like our creature comforts.  The interior layout of Royal Princess is helter skelter.  There is poor flow across the main decks outside and in.  Lots of dead ends or doorways to nowhere.  We never got our bearings.  Cabins have large walk in closets which appear to have robbed balcony space - no room for footrests or cafe tables.  The adults only area was without cushioned chaises - those had to be purchased in the Sanctuary - and there was limited shade.  Finally this relatively new ship had offered branding that seemed to be out of date.  Considering how much competitors execute internal brands - Celebrity's Lawn Club, Blu, Luminae, Qzine, Murano, Tuscan Grille, etc.- all of which have something unique to offer along with the catchy name/phrase.  It left us feeling like these experiences were an afterthought for standard spaces.  In the end, we had a great time.  We met some nice guys from Atlanta, New York, Florida and beyond.  We would willingly take another Princess Cruise again.  Interesting enough - it has us thinking about trying Royal Caribbean again - a line we haven't sailed on in over a decade.

Great ship and the best service we have had on any Cruise.

Private Island was great. Grand Turk: Enjoy the wonderful beach or simply stay on the ship. Island is a dump.

I was so excited to go on my first cruise. It was all that I heard. The whole experience was beautiful. From the moment we got on the ship till leaving we had fun.from the food to the shows, the excursions, the ports visited. The club at night, the pool party. Simply amazing. I look forward to doing it again and again. Special thanks to the man who kept our room so immaculate, WE.

You perfect for some relaxing times by robbiediarbak

Everything was great about this cruise.. the ship, service, destination ... I would most definitely do it again!! Although I did notice that our fruits from the Buffett were not fresh, just the fruits. Me and my wife noticed that watermelons,  cucumber,  and tomatoes were  a little unfresh but still eatable lol. But the food through the ship was amazing and delicious.

Excellent cruise but not perfect by chuck30921094

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The pros: excellent staff in every area of the ship. Well trained, professional, courteous and accommodating. Beautiful ship. Good ports. Good size mini suites. Everything well organized including amazingly efficient embarkation and debarkation. 5 minutes after meeting in our "grouping area" we were heading off the ship and 20 minutes later we were leaving the Port Everglades parking garage. This was not an exception; last year after our 2 week cruise on her sister ship Regal Princess it was the same amazing process. This past summer after a 1 week cruise on the RC Allure it took almost 2 hours to get off and out.

The only con: the quality of the food has deteriorated. Princess has obviously decided to cut food costs. Again service is great in every area but not the food quality including the steak house (Chops). The main dining room menu selections are very inferior and pedestrian, from the appetizers and soups to the entres and deserts. Their list of "regulars" that they have every night now includes a hamburger instead of a strip steak. One of the entres early on the cruise was duck larange. What came out were 2 deep fried partial wings with no meat and an orange sauce which I am sure was marmalade. Terrible. From that point on we ate all meals in the Horizon Court buffet where the food was actuallly very good and with great selections, except for 2 nights in Chops. Both nights there we had ribeyes. The first was good but the second was poor. Not worth going back a 3rd time so we cancelled our reservation.

Royal Princess 10 Day Cruise by vitolinkinc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I always sail with Princess - still love them since my first sailing with them 23 years ago.  The ships are well maintained and the crew are always friendly and helpful!  That being said, I did notice a minor change in service - not quite as on the spot as always, and I also feel that the food in the formal dining rooms was not quite up to it's usual quality.  However, these were very minor in the grand scheme of things!!!

our cruise comments by hmccants

The ship was layed out well. Our cabin was really small compared to Royal Ceribbean's cabins. Room attendents were great, meals good.

We would like to thank Karen for all the info. and our surprise meal on the ship. If we ever travel again, we will call on Karen for help.

Royal Princess by allicatz26

Horizon Court and Bistro great selections and service was great.

outstanding for a buffet!

The main dining room on the other hand was only average as far as service and very disappointing they had no music or liveliness to create a happy atmosphere.

Absolutely no personality or warmth

very hard to get around on ship and little care or help.

Horrible experience boarding ship . Totally unorganized and fights were breaking out amongst passengers. We waited  1hour and a half with people cutting the line and workers forming 2 lines instead of one. No one working knew what they were doing.

Loved the entertainer Perry Grant!

Shows were below average. Very dissapointing. Comedian was good.

Shopping on ship was not as good as Royal Carribean or Carnival.

Crowd was older than we expected and it felt like a nursing home.
