Review summary

This was one of the most beautiful cruises I have taken. We were well cared for, and comfortable. We were able to see so many lovely and exciting places.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy. We had worried about all the COVID protocol, but Princess helped us through it beautifully.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent food throughout the ship. Delicious, fun food. Good drinks too!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Spent time in the hot tubs, but it was too cold for the pool. Pickleball courts always seemed busy, the golf was a little disappointing. An indoor pool would have been nice for this particular cruise. We took part in some of the games hosted by the ship and watched the ice sculpture.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Most of the entertainers we saw were excellent! There was a Neal Diamond tribute that was a disappointment because the performer did not sound or perform in any way like Neal Diamond. But I was not disappointed by any of the others.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service aboard the Royal Princess was terrific! We have been on a few cruises, and this staff rate among the kindest, most helpful we have ever experienced. We were very impressed by our waiter, Teddy Palomares, assistant waiter Marco Ainza, and their supervisor, Tiwari. Our room was taken care of by Jessie (I think his last name is Salcedo) so very well. He not only kept our room super clean, but also kept us up to date on things we needed to know and do to be ready to disembark. He is a jewel. The people in the Spa were so easy to work with and kind. We drank a lot of hot chocolate and diet coke, and the people who helped us get drinks were always kind and cheerful. The staff in the buffet performed superbly well. They went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Thanks to all!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout was predictable compared to other Princess ships. We noticed many people helping keep it clean, and we never had a problem with maintenance. It was up to our expectations at all times.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. It was the perfect size for spending 2 weeks on a cruise. The bathroom was a nice surprise, with a full-size tub and handheld shower attachment. We had plenty of room for all our belongings. It was delightful.

Ship tip

Get out the first day and find everything. There are lots of fun places to explore on the Royal Princess.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Did not do an excursion. We arrived the night before the cruise started and did a self-guided walk.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
We did a wildlife excursion that got us nearer to humpback whales that any of our other excursions. I would have liked more time in Ketchikan, but I know you can't have everything in just 2 weeks.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
We did a whale watching excursion and visited Mendenhall Glacier. The glacier was beautiful, and the visitors center there was very informative, this helped us get an understanding of glaciers before we went through Glacier Bay. We also took the Tram up the mountainside and enjoyed the view of the area. Juneau is beautiful.

Skagway, Alaska

We rode the train to the top of the mountain and back. Absolutely breathtaking scenery. Everyone should experience the train ride! Later we went to the Gold Rush Cemetery and walked up to the falls. This was lovely.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
We were amazed at the majesty of the glaciers. We appreciated the ranger who joined us and gave information about the glacier system.

Cruise College Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Again, we were amazed by the beauty of so many glaciers. The accompanying commentary was also helpful.

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
We did an excursion that included glaciers, and whale and other wildlife siting. We were very impressed by this excursion. It was our favorite!

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
I really appreciated how the captain let each side of the ship have a turn at viewing the glacier through the day. Whether we were in our room, or by a window at our meals, we were able to appreciate the beauty to the fullest all day long.

Disembarkation

So easy! Thank you for the shuttle to the airport. Everything went so smoothly because of your help with the process of entering Canada.

It was a fantastic cruise! We were on the 6/11 part the cruise. The crew / staff made it one of my most favorite cruises. We thought Cruise Director Natalie was fantastic.
