Review summary

Generally, a very good cruise experience for a large group with various ages (9 to 92). The cruise ship was very stable, and the general amenities were very good. We found the set dinner time surprisingly enjoyable and had excellent services. The long port time at each stop provided us with a lot of activity options. The main evening entertainment quality and options were somewhat disappointing and not suitable for young adults and children. Overall, seven day was about the right length of time for this destination.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
General on- and off-board process was simple and efficent. The best I have experienced with the exception of the de-embarkation process at Vancouver.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Our servers were excellent, and did a wonderful job of taking care of us. The service in the buffet serving area was less attentive and slower.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The walking track was very useful, and the fitness room was impressive.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
The production quality was less than what we have seen in our other cruise. There was a lack of variety in the evening shows.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The dining room waiters were excellent and friendly. The room stewards were above average. The excursion and general guest services had long lines and were not as helpful.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The medallion program was helpful, but not always functional all the time. More display locations would have been helpful. Overall, ship cleanliness was good, but access to some of the rear dining room (6th floor with no direct access from front or mid ship) was confusing and long for older travelers.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

The 4-pack internet package was worth it although the speed was slow. There are four floating licenses that can share amount many devices.

The AWCC visit was excellent!

Cruise Hubbard Glacier Did not visit port

Cancelled due to fog. A big disappointment but understood the safety concern.

Cruise Glacier Bay

The ranger program was very helpful and the rangers were very knowledgeable. Wish they would mingle more with the passengers at the key viewing areas after the presentation.

Skagway, Alaska

4 out of 5
Hard to get town buses. Some type of posted scheduling would have been helpful. Had a great time at the disc golf course near 20th street.

Juneau, Alaska

Mindenhall visitor center was an interesting excursion. Taxi saves a lot of cost.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

4 out of 5
The baggage handling between cruise and airport was limited. The airport was extremely inefficient.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The self-carry option did not have clear direction, and the cruise representatives were confused about where to go themselves. Our group had different disembarking hours, and it was difficult at the station to get the group back together again due to the number of people as well as the fact that the security team does not want people to hang around. Again, wish there were more baggage handling options to hotels and airports.
