There is no water package, be prepared to hunt for drinking water. It is very expensive. If you drink alcohol, there is plenty.

If you purchase a wine package keep track of your open bottles. Most nights they had difficulty finding ours for dinner.

Previous cruisers on HAL should be prepared for lots of cheap cost cutting around the ship. It was very annoying.

If you have sailed on the older Holland America ships, the three newer ships (Signature Class) have cabins that are significantly smaller. As a result, Holland America was able to have more cabin in the same amount of space. Example; if you sailed on the Zuiderdam with a standard balcony cabin, you will find the standard balcony cabin on the Rotterdam smaller both in the cabin area and bath.

They do try to sell a lot of items and some of the activities are a bit lame. They should have ballroom classes at the biking club instead of lame line dances near the pool

inform your self, what's included and what not; it's totally confusing; even the personnel didn't figure it out; if possible, get a suite; the bathrooms are tiny!!

The healthy smoothies by the midship pool are excellent. The best coffee is in the Grand Dutch Cafe, but get there early. There is often only one attendant making coffee and may take a bit.

Enjoy the staff in the Lido Buffet, they are top shelf. Do go to MDR for scheduled dining & get to know your wonderful wait staff. Do enjoy the movies poolside. Skip the Pinnacle & Sal de Mer. Avoid the Sea Safari excursion unless you are a diver bc the conditions will be beyond your experience - completely unpleasant. The ship is lovely. Enjoy! Very nice cruise even with some bumps.

Bring a nightlight (something to plug in or a phone battery backup with a light) to use in the bathroom at night so you don't have to turn on all the lights.
