Q: I looked up “my Itinerary” for our upcoming cruise on the Navigator App. It shows how to dress for dinner each night. Each night lists ”smart casual” for our 9 day cruise. Does this mean there are no dressy gala nights? We will be packing soon and hope someone knows!

Q: Do you have to make reservations for the 'Daily Program' events? Every time I try to add one to my itenerary it has a message that says "event registration request is pending" followed by a message that says "there was a problem adding event to your itenerary".

A: You don’t need reservations for those events. You can add as many as you want, they will just show up as reminders on your phone. The only thing you need reservations for on Rotterdam are for the spa and extra charge restaurants. If you haven’t board... ed yet for your cruise you may not be able to add them.See More

Q: How does getting water and ice on the ship work? Is there a spot we can fill up our bottles or do we have to purchase bottles everytime we need water?

A: In your cabin, your cabin attendant will get ice for just ask. We usually got ice in the evening but you can get in the morning or both. Tap water is quite good since has desalination facilities. You can also get water in the Lido. You can get bottl... ed ( or canned water) at any bar but no plastic bottles. The big bottle of water in your cabin is part of the mini bar and is not included in your drink package! If you open it, you pay for it.See More

Q: My husband and I love walking 2 miles every morning on the promenade deck. I hear that is almost impossible on the Rotterdam — that their deck laps are too narrow. Do you agree?

A: The Promenade Deck (Deck 3), it is narrow near the dining room area but because it is mostly covered and enclosed it can be walked even in foul weather, three laps equal a mile.
Answered by esrescuer on April 27, 2023
A: Totally disagree. I walked at least 2 miles every morning. You may have to pass someone or be passed, but I greatly enjoyed the walk every day.

Q: My wife and I just got off the Rotterdam. This was our first Holland American cruise. Friends had a retreat cabana. We like the retreat cabanas on the sundeck so we booked one for an upcoming Hawaii Tahiti cruise. We have never booked one in the past. I realize tipping is a personal option and it depends on how much of the service we use. Can someone give us some insight on how the tipping process usually works with the cabana workers? How much is a reasonable amount and how often should the tip be given example daily weekly or at the end of cruise. Thank you

Q: The reviews complain that the sea view pool is where the smoking area is. Is the smoking limited to a small spot, or can people actually smoke around the pool?

A: Aft pool area one side only.I don't smoke but I never found the area smelly. The other side of pool as well as the deck above it are fine. There is enough breeze on the back of the ship to prevent cigarette smell. It's a huge ship with two pools and... alot of outdoor area to hang out.See More
Answered by Marnia on January 18, 2023
A: Thank God open Smoking is limited to one outside area by the Pool.
Answered by MsMarjorie on January 21, 2023
A: Not the pool exactly but the seating area in the area. The smell is horrible and makes the aft pool unusable
Answered by GSSI on January 18, 2023
A: When we used the pool, it was not noticeable at the pool or the hot tubs. As the ship is moving, it is blown away. However, it is very strong in the smoking area, which is where my husband accidentally put our towels.
