Review summary
Overall my wife and I had a good time; not great. We expected a lot more from Holland America in regards to service than we received. Unlike our experience with Celebrity the week prior, the Rotterdam fell short on many fronts. Wile we will sail on Holland America again, we will do so going into it with a lower expectation. We are hoping that they are able to work the kinks out their crew and systems.Embarkation

Food and Dining
Main dining room was a disaster. Definite room for improvement in service, atmosphere and food quality. Specialty restaurants faired a little better, but there is also room for improvement; both not to the standard one would expect from Holland America or our past experiences with them. Very surprising to see given the Rotterdam is their flagship.

Best areas were housekeeping and guest services. All other areas need help.

Cabin / Stateroom
Took too long to correct overly high bed in accessible cabin. My wife's first night was not good until they were able to change the mattress to a low profile one.
Ship tip
Don't expect much when it comes to service in the dining room.
