ROYAL PAIN by mrtoyota

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We went on the Radiance of the Sea to Alaska on May 3rd thru May 10th.. . What a Royal Pain! My experience on this cruise was far less enjoyable than what I have experienced on previous Royal Cruises. Before I get into the negatives, I do want to say that there were no issues with the ship itself or the crew, both fabulous. On this particular ship, the places to eat and food choices were very limited. I felt the food in the main dining room was below the standard I have had on previous Royal cruises. I ordered the steak, and was very thin and was tough. I am not a Seafood eater, so I had very little choices on the menu. In the past, the food was a lot more upscaled than what we were served. My other complaint is that there were children in the upper midship adult area. They were in the pool and the lifeguard was about 5 feet away and said nothing to them. I heard some other screams from kids on the other side. This happened on more than one occasion on this cruise. Don’t get me wrong, I love kids, but I also enjoy my time away from them and could not enjoy my time relaxing in this covered area where the pool was. The last complaint has to do with the lack of fun things to do each night. The music was rather down beat and slow with no energy from the performers in the center of the ship, piano bar etc. I think there was a comedian only one night. So, I felt rather bored than being on vacation. I have written to Royal Caribbean several times and have expressed that I am quite disappointed how this is being treated. Royal Caribbean is not accepting any responsibility for the mishaps on the cruise. I am further disappointed that their team is refusing to make things right. They assured me the problems are being addressed and they are sorry. After reading some previous reviews from this cruise and ship, other passengers had similar complaints. Evidently, they have not “Looked into this” and do not care about their passengers to receive the same poor reviews. Bottom line, I will have to look at cruise lines more closely and check the feedback from the cruiser before I take another cruise with Royal. Would have saved me a lot of frustration.

I was disappointed with parts of the cruise by bush66966410

Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Never got our pictures because we were not told how to get them. For someone that is on their first cruise the ship was not very helpful. We had to learn things from other passengers. There should be information given to passengers when they get onboard to help them maneuver all the things to do and what to expect. We missed a lot of things to do because of it. The people in charge of the cruise lied to us about renting electric carts so my husband and I were limited in the activities we could do. I don't think we would go on another cruise with Royal Carribean.

April 25 2024 Cruise cancelled 😡 by damselfly

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Garbage. RCCL knew boat needed repairs. Should have given refunds/credits before making us fly thousands of miles and spend on an expensive hotel and get trapped on a boat in port for 3 days unable to disembark. Free bottom shelf liquor for 2 days is not enough. Royal Caribbean had plenty of time to try to make this better. My husband and I wasted 10 vacation days on a cruise to nowhere. The refunds and cruise credit can never replace the time we wasted. I am pursuing more refunds with RC

TERRIBLE by italinnthing

Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We were so excited to set sail on our first ever cruise with a great social group we are affiliated with. We set sail out of Tampa, FL on 2/8. 24 hours into our trip my husband fractured his leg on the sports court. We were “treated” ( I use that term loosely because they just did an xray and splinted his leg) and were charged almost $1,200 for this. They “treated” us down in medical and sent us back up to our room for the night, we were then forced off the ship the next morning on 2/10 (19 hours after the accident) where we were taken by ambulance to the local Cozumel hospital and were told by the cruise line that the doctor had to clear us in order to get back on the ship. Long story short the doctor did not clear us to get back on the ship because my husband needed surgery on his leg. Royal Caribbean took it upon themselves to pack all of our belongings up without getting permission from us (this alone was very violating). We were stuck in Cozumel by ourselves with zero support from Royal Caribbean and we had to find transport back to the states in order for my husband to get surgery. We were stuck in Cozumel for 3 days prior to having to pay out of pocket for an air ambulance back to Tampa. Hard lesson learned from our end to ALWAYS buy travel insurance. But also shame on Royal Caribbean for zero support to their customers. I am now having to fight to get some money back since we only were on the ship for 2 days. Also side note the ship returned to port a full day before we were able to get back. My question is, how bad does an injury have to be for Royal to medivac someone off their ship. Thankfully my husband and I had the support of friends and family and were able to return to the states but I know there are people in this world that would have been stuck for much longer. Not sure I will ever cruise with Royal ever again

A beautiful old girl! by Gabriel2019

I love to walk on the track before the sun comes up while my wife catches up on her sleep. We had wonderful foods at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We enjoyed fantastic musicians throughout the ship. Of course, the best thing about this cruise was the workers on Radiance of the Seas

Royal Carrebean should have compensated us for missing last port. Not blaming them for the weather but should offered credit on next cruise.

Radiance of the Seas by markjohnson

Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Radiance is older but a great ship. We were unsure about the ship since it is one of the oldest in the fleet. We were pleasantly surprised. We plan to sail on her again. She is not full of activities for kids, but if you are interested in a relaxing cruise, try her out!

Great cruise. Ports were great. Smaller ship. Not enough activities. Pool overcrowded. No Sorrentos. Centrum activities were good. Take the stairs a lot. Chops was super yummy!! Still had fun with family.

Good time but an old ship in need of refresh by Itrvlfar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

We booked this sailing as it’s convenient to us to sail from Tampa but the ship is older and pretty tired looking. Also the clientele is a mixed bag, but sailing under the Skyway Bridge is always spectacular. The smoking in the casino was absolutely disgusting and even the nonsmoking side had smokers. So gross! Our waiter and asst waiter were two of the best we’ve had in a long time. We looked forward to seeing them every evening and they were certainly a rain of sunshine each day! Overall the ship is a good value except for the drinks package and a la carts drink prices. You can take two bottles of wine per cabin and that is a nice perk we took advantage of!

This cruise was a fun one. I went with a group of women for a women's retreat cruise and had a blast. I would easily sail on this ship again.

Got Better As The Cruise Progressed by CleanCruiserPod

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

First ever Christmas cruise. The ship was definitely sold out. There were lots of people on board but it still had the home like feel of a Radiance class ship. Crew were amazing as always. Food improved as the cruise went on. Onboard activities started off strong but slowly dissipated as the cruise went along. There was lots of Christmas spirit. Overall, I think this cruise was very good.
