Pretty views and enjoyed my time. However, it wasn't without some issues with the business side of Royal Caribbean. Prices of everything doesn't make me want to rush back for another Alaskan Cruise.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Fairly smooth until the gates were opened and there was minimal control of the crowd heading to the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Food quality and taste started off strong and as the week progressed quality, flavor, and options went downhill.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Hardly anything to do compared to other cruises I have been on. Not enough entertainment for children as they were running around everywhere disturbing the peace.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Times offered were difficult to attend and not attractive to prioritize attending over just watching the views.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
I didn't partake or have kids participating. However considering teen dance party was held in a bar and kids constantly allowed in the adult pool kids activities need work.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Constantly had issues with the app and was needing assistance. App management never could solve the issues and would just leave. For example dining reservations never worked he said you will just have to do it in person. Half the time daily program didn't show.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Constantly getting turned around but it was clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Was nice to have a window but would have been better if the window looked like it had ever been cleaned. Shower curtain was old and ripping. Should be replaced more frequently. Had to be overly cautious not to flood the bathroom while showering due to the curtain and shower head. Refrigerator had minimal working shelves and didn't fit in the cabinet to open it without a beauty wall popping off.
Ship tip
Be prepared to shell put a a small fortune if wanting to do any excursions in Alaska. Elevators take forever to wait on and frequently full and take multiple attempts especially in the centrally located part of the ship.
Advertised as a port but nothing to do right when disembarking. Would have to book a hotel to enjoy this port as you have to have luggage with you as you have disembarked
I must admit I'm a little bit opinionated when it comes to cruises and children. I feel if you want to take a child on a cruise you stick to their area or go on a cruise that is children friendly. I picked the smaller older ships and the itinerary because usually they were less children as there is less for them to do. It's not that I don't enjoy children I do but on certain vacations when I'm not traveling with my own or my grandchildren I don't want to have to be watching other people's that don't behave.
