Review summary

Fantastic cruise aboard Radiance of the Seas. So glad we did this and would recommend to anyone.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Stayed in Vancouver beforehand and cab dropped us and the luggage off underneath Canada center. Porters immediately took care of luggage, after a quick set of queues to check health, passport and credentials we were aboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food on board is plentiful and delicious- not exceptional except in the specialty restaurants but fine and enjoyable.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We started with a round of putt putt waiting to leave port and of course enjoyed the comics, piano bar, pub trivia and specialized speakers telling us about the regions and people we were visiting.

Entertainment

5 out of 5

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always the staff make the trips so enjoyable.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We genuinely enjoyed a smaller ship. While still having the amenities most desired, like music and entertainment everywhere, great bars and bartenders, it wasn’t overwhelming allowing more opportunities to get to know fellow cruisers and staff.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We usually select a guaranteed room (where the cruise line selects it for you) as we’re very comfortable in interior rooms. We felt this was among the best we have had. Larger layout than interior cabins on the big ships we found our room perfect for us. Plenty of storage everywhere too.

We booked a shuttle tour portside to Mendenhall Glacier which was great. On another visit we rented a car via Turo and had great day going “out the road” and building our own tour.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
We followed some recommendations found online and booked a whale watching tour through an exceptional family run tour boat guide named Glacier Winds. I’d strongly encourage seeking them out.

Sitka, Alaska

Quaint but not much to do so we walked around, visited the Russian Orthodox Church and some cemeteries before having lunch in town and turning to the ship.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
We purchased the White Pass & Yukon railway roundup ticket directly from the station after 10 min walk to town. Save $10 and buy them online ahead of arrival. Amazing train ride through the mountains, with stories of the goldrush days. Amazing views. Strongly recommend.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Your experience will vary based on weather and ice conditions which impact how close the ship can get and your visibility. We did back to back cruises. One was exceptional for both weather and water conditions. The next week not as good but still exciting and amazing.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation seemed chaotic and we ended up having to stand in cold rain way too long awaiting buses to take us on excursion.
