Review summary

My only real complaint about this cruise (and it applies to most of them these days and most cruise lines) is the push to make people duct tape a cell phone to their head. Bars try not to tell you they have a printed menu. They want you to use damn QR codes (and readers) to even see the drink menu and prices. I hate this nonsense. The ship doesnt even have maps and screens with ocean depth and weather etc anymore, again pushing you to do QR code nonsense. I am on vacation and the last thing I want to do is be constantly on a cell phone. What do people do who don't have one?

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quickest and smoothest boarding I have ever experienced.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
MDR was very good. Windjammer average to sometimes bland. The Indian dishes were fantastic and flavorful. Mexican night was tastless.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
If you are bored it is your problem. No loss for things to do.

Entertainment

Beeter than usual. And enought of it

Children's Programs

I did not travel with any crumbsnatchers

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Some of the friendliest staff I ever seen. Genuine greetings

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was in good rig

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
about as expected. Nothing special.

Ship tip

be prepared for no bar menus or ship compass. The push you to use QR codes. I hate those. I travel and cruise to get AWAY from cell phones.

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

It was my boarding point, so I did enjoy getting there a day ahead to explore. But I did it on my own.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

While not a port, but rather a day at 'sea' the scenery was very pretty

Ketchikan, Alaska

Weather was good. Not much old stuff left, but a nice stop

Sitka, Alaska

5 out of 5
Not a lot of older stuff, but a fun stop

Juneau, Alaska

A bit of the usual by the port (too many jewelery stores). We did an excursion to see bears, basically in an enclosure and just 6 of them. Nothing special. The tour didnt really allow enough time to feel comfortable to also to the raptor center. It may have cut things close due to road work in one area and traffic build ups. So we skipped that part. Some went and did make it back in time, but I suspect it limited the time they could see anything

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Only day with some rain, but it was my favorite stop. Wooden plank sidewalks. Pretty much just the one main street. Not really old Alaska but better than any other stop.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

The weather cooperated. The captain was able to get us SO close it was amazing. We actually got as close as the overpriced smaller boat that took people up close. Some claving, but it was around a bend so we got to see the water splash but not the actual calving. This was truly the high point.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

5 out of 5
Not much of anything there, but it was disembarkation point anyway. Took RC shuttle to Anchorage. No one knew where to get the bus, but 10 of us had to hunt it down. The shuttle ride was good and the driver well informed and personal. The drop off point held all luggage (til 9pm if needed) so you could wander around Anchorage downtown area.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Pretty quick and efficient
