Radiance of the Seas

Review summary

The Radiance of the Seas cruise to Alaska was a once in a lifetime cruise for me. I very much enjoyed the itinerary and the sights. For the most part the crew was very friendly and glad to be of service. There were a few bartenders that were pushing the drink package the first two days of the cruise - perhaps they are compensated by how many they sign up.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
I give it a three because they served Tiramisu with a pistacchio biscuit. Never in my life have I had Tiramisu with any nuts in it. It's actually NOT supposed to have any, but they chef put his own spin on it. This is fine, unless you have a tree nut allergy and it's not disclosed. Luckily I was able to get some benedryl and it was only a mild reaction.

Ship Quality

The layout was a little disjointed compared to some of the other ships I've been on. There was really only one elevator embankment for the whole ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

The size and layout were what I expected.

We booked the train to Anchorage through the ship. This was an amazing adventure.

I, too, am sorry for your food reaction. I know those can be very dangerous, and what happened to you indeed needs/needed to be communicated to ship staff. That said, and with no offense intended you, a rating of 3 out of 5 in "Food and Dining" because of one dessert issue during a seven-night cruise seems, to me, to be harsh. (I could better see the criticism in, e.g., "Service and Staff.") I.e., did the nuts in your tiramisu really so completely offset the other excellent food offerings - the filet mignon, salmon, eggs benedict, baked Alaska, lobster bisque, etc.?

Appreciate your feedback. Sorry about the nuts. Glad you mostly enjoyed your cruise.

So except for nuts in tiramisu (did they let the Maitre’D know about nut allergy?) it was excellent dining?
